We thought we were getting a 4 star resort, but that definately wasn't the case. Let me first say that my rating does not include the staff at the resort. I would give 95% of the staff a 5+ rating. The staff were the nicest, most helpful people I have ever met. Canadians who work in the service industry could learn a lot from the Cubans. As for the rest of the resort it deserves maybe the 1.5 we gave it. The building is in need of a lot of TLC. The food was bland, boring, and same thing every day, especially the breakfasts. Don
t try their version of french toast. My daughter almost chipped her tooth on it. After going to one a la carte dinner we had to go to the buffet rest because we were still hungry!! Don't go by what the website shows either. I would say 75% of the resort was not operating. Only one pool open & 2bars. No disco, ice cream parlour, pizzeria, swim up bars, childcare centre, and1/2 rooms were open at all. The 24hr snack bar only serves hot dog, hamburgers (plain) and chips, mind u they won't cook chips after around 7 or 8 at night. If u don't drink rum be careful the whole hotel runs out of vodka usually by 3 or 4 in the afternoon everyday. We had to buy are own bottle in order to have a drink. Drink menu is very limited. Nothing fancy at all. On our first morning there within a 2hr span we had to be moved to 3 rooms before we had a room that was going to be ok to stay in. Be prepared to walk many flights or stairs as well. Only one elevator was working, but for 3 days out of 7 neither one worked and we were 10 flights of stairs up. Same with running water. It was a guessing game each day to see if u had running water, or even hot water!!!! The main buffet restaurant smells musty and mildew. It actually turned me off eating at all. Let alone all the birds in there sitting on the tables. There is cats everywhere outside begging for food at the Tropican bar. They are everywhere in and outside. They are cute but not what I wanted to see in a resort. We were told the resort was like this because it was slow season. That shouldn't matter. We still paid a lot of money for our vacation and as far as I am concerned got ripped off. If u do decide to go here I hope ur experience is better than ours was. We talked to lots of people there and they all said the same thing. If u go look for Kendra and Enier in the 24hr bar (tropical bar) Milay in the Cohiba bar, Tomas in the entertainment, and many other staff they will be great to you. We will never stay there again, but will pop in to say hi to all the staff, especially the ones I mentioned. "

"I have stayed at the Allegro before, formerly the Oasis 1920 and this time around after the renovations I found the resort was much cleaner and the staff were AMAZING. Food was also a little better this time around (lots of fresh produce which was great!) I would definitely recommend this resort to my friends and family!"

"Had an amazing time at Allegro. The resort had incredible landscaping and amazing views of the ocean. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The food was good if you knew where to go. The Pools on either far ends serve stuff like hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, french fries. I recommend the hot dogs and pizza. Little hints. Bring your own salad dressing and ketchup ..it went along ways! The bread is great too so if you want to make PB and J sandwiches haha. This resort would be great for people between 18-35. If your thinking of going to Havana I recommend doing what we did and just getting a group of people and calling a Taxi. The girl's at the front desk recommended an amazing taxi driver that probably knew more about Havana then a tour guide did. The bed's were comfy unlike I've heard. I slept like a baby every night. Wake up and sit on the patio staring at the ocean..amazing. The room's are very clean! If you and your friends want to go meet some hotties at a resort..I recommend Allegro. Couples too, I went with my girlfriend and we meet TONS of awesome people. Highly recommended!"

"Dates of Stay: April 02-11, 2011 Bungalo rooms were clean but a little dark and outdated. Good if you dont plan on staying in room for entire time. Ask for ocean view..its beautiful. Our friends got a upgrade upon request while checking in for 20 a night. Well worth it I would say..immediate room upon arrival, brighter, nicer atmosphere, ocean view. Pools and beach were spectacular. Food was decent ..fruit, pasta, salad..not as bad as we expected but not outstanding for sure. You will not starve...they will make you hamburgers and hot dogs at all time pretty much down by the beach."

"The staff are very good and friendly, and I found the food at the buffett very good, only one night out of the week was it unappealing.
The room was clean, and the maid brought me a plug for the tub when I asked her.
The washrooms in the common areas usually lacked toilet paper.
The pool bar and lobby bar constantly ran out of vodka and ice. All inclusive as long as you drank beer or rum.
The beach was very beautiful, however we were not able to go into the ocean due to jelly fish, but the swim up bar was nice just the same.
All in all I really enjoyed myself, the disco was good, as well as the cave bar next door. It's a short trip to the city, and the sites of Havana were also amazing.
I would totally stay here again, I met alot of nice people from all over the world."

"The hotel is rated as a 4.5 star but compared to other hotels I have stayed at I would say maybe 3 or 3.5. The hotel is older and still beautiful but as in all older buildings, there is always something needing to be repaired. The staff does their best to keep up though and the service is first rate. The cleaning staff are phenomenal, I could have eaten off the floor in my room. There were always towels and clean sheets when requested. The beds however are not what I would rate as comfortable. The 220 outlets were a surprise. Thank heavens for the installed blow dryers.
The food was plentiful and well presented but sorely lacking in variety (same thing each day) and no spices or herbs to offset the natural state of anything, including the meat. I was warned to take spices with me but somehow it just isn't the same after cooking. You won't go hungry but don't expect any snack foods. The incredible scenery, excellent service and gorgeous beaches more than make up for any shortcomings in the food or amenities.
There could be more included in the way of outdoor activities, such as kayaks or paddle boats and snorkeling gear as they are not supplied by the hotel but are available for an additional cost by private parties. There are some great day tours available for reasonable prices. For the all inclusive price I paid it was a pretty good deal. It is very safe and the people are helpful and friendly (I am a female and travelled alone and never felt my safety was at risk.)"

"The only reason I gave this .5 less than 5 is simply because of the beds! I found it to be very uncomfortable.. but I will be honest. That is the ONLY thing I can say I wasn't happy with. This vacation was by far the most fun I have had! The people I met staying at the resort were outstanding, we partied hard for 8 days straight. The shows were great, the hotel had a little disco called "Mango's" and thats where every night got started! I highly recommend this hotel to anybody between the ages of 19-35... just an amazing nightlife atmosphere! The beaches were kept very tidy, gorgeous white sand on an ocean front property. An incredible time from start to finish, Allegro in Veradero, Cuba by far surpassed all of my expectations and more."

"Great location ... however that is the only postive thing we can say. A so called 4 star resort that regularly ran out of beer? The food - we did not starve but the buffet is not good, hot food served up warm at best. And the same food for lunch and dinner.
Still undergoing renovations so dirty and dusty and noisy. This place might make the 2 star list - eventually. For now, do yourselves a favour and pick another resort. Not a bargain at ANY price."
