"the hotel is very up scale the grounds are beautiful...basically on the surface everything looks outstanding..however ...checking can be a huge problem in that they tend to overbook their rooms and you could be s.o.l for a room even though you booked your vacation five months earlier..er waited for over 3 hours to get our room and when we did it was not the location we wanted it was the family section of the complex with screaming kids in the kids pool...complaining to hotel staff did not do any good as they just shrugged their shoulders and could not do anything..we asked for the hotel manager and he /or she could not be located..they seemed to disappear into the fog...
the food was ok however barcelo should spend some money for training the kitchen staff in the culinary arts of simple good food and not overcooked....in summation its a great location wonderful looking hotel...what this hotel desperately needs is a better customer service....we havetravelled to this hotel for the past six years because we love the golfing the beach and most of the staff..we will continue to go there..as we will in feb 20012...i would give this hotel a 4 star rating ..they lose one star for poor customer service..

"We stayed in Barcelo Bavaro Palace deluxe junior suite waterfront from June 5 to June 12. Junior suite are very nice, with nice contemporary design, spacious with comfortable bed. In suite is big plasma TV, beautiful bathroom with two shower in it. Room has safe and cooler with drinks every day. We appreciated air conditioning and also fan, very help full with humidity. Suite has big deck with hot tub and nice chairs. Overall nice stay, nice accommodation and most beautiful beach. We also like buffed La Brisa...new contemporary canteen, pleasure to eat. They offering variety of food, and we were NOT bored. They offered still something new..hmmm delicious. As for bars, we did not have problem with staff, we got our drinks fast with smile and we have enough drinks. We CAN not complain for anything. Nice tropical vacation with lots of relax. Definitely go back in future. I can recommended to all people looking for REAL tropical paradise."

"WE STAYED AT THE BARCELO DELUXE. IT WAS REALLY GOOD JUST OPEN IN DECEMBER 08. THE FOOD WAS GREAT . STAFF WAS AWESOME.THEY ARE REALLY IMPROVING THEIR IMAGE. THE ROOMS HAD HOT TUBS ON EVERY DECK WITH WIND SCREEN ON THE PATIO. WOULD RETURN TODAY IF I COULD."

Rating: "I stayed at the Barcelo Palace from Feb 1- Feb 8 2009. I have zero complaints. The hotel was great. The room was very clean, with a stocked mini bar everyday. The beds were very comfortable. All the staff were so hardworking and so nice. The breakfast was amazing every morning. And the variety of restaurants was great. There was so much to do at this resort. The Italian restaurant was excellent, and there is a spot where you can order pizza pretty much any time day or night. There is a grill just down the beach that was great too! The beach was beautiful and so clean. I can not express how happy we were with this resort. The staff are incredible and soooo hardworking. Leave some tips for the staff because they really don't make very much money. You don't have to tip, but a little bit to us, is so much more to them. The people there were just so happy and always smiling. I will go back again for sure!!"

"The hotel's grounds was a paradise. High stretched Palm trees and long stretches of beach. Cleaned constantly, no
trace of seaweed along the beach shore, or even any trash found left behind by patrons. The house keeping I feel could put a little more effort into a freshness of clean in the bathroom areas of the room, otherwise the rooms were perfect.
The shows were entertaining, and the transportation train that runs 24 hours was an added pleasure for us night owls that wanted to find where the party was in the early morning hours. I would recommend the place 100%. Service was outstanding amongst staff, 2 to 3 at a time would greet you at the table assisting in whatever way they could. Lobsters, steaks, and then the Domican cookery was traditionally as good as my grandmother's cooking. Never harassed along the beach shore by vendors or people wanting you to buy buy like other resorts. I would love to go back next year and exchange vows with my partner because we both felt it was the perfect setting and place to entertain friends, family, and ourselves. Most importantly because it truly is a tropical Palace and escape to a true Paradise.. "

Rating: "This was the most awesome vacation ever! The hotel was very clean, the room was nice too. The bathroom needed updating, but everything worked and there was always hot water. The minibar was filled everyday. The pool was gorgeous, although the service at the swim up bar was not the greatest, as well as the lobby bar, but they were always very busy. The food was excellent with tons of selection, and the a la carte restaurants were fantastic without having to make reservations or wait forever for a table. There is also a grill/bar on the beach. If you stay at the Palace, you may use any of the other 4 Barcelo's on the same property. A little train car will drive you around every 20 mins. or so. THE BEACH IS GORGEOUS! And it is kept very clean! It was raked everyday! The staff was friendly and helpful for the most part, and there was always something going on around the pool or beach. Nightly entertainment was pretty good, sometimes hilarious, but thats not what we went for. All in all, it was FABULOUS and I would go back anytime without hesitation."

"Do not stay at this resort unless you want very poor service. The beach was beautiful and mixed fruit drinks good. There were a few nice employees. The managment are the worst and do not care if you have any problems. I went there on my honeymoon and received a room that was moldy, nasty, mosquito infested hanging out with their roach and spider friends, broken air condition, outdated appliances, horrible hard old mattress, old cheap motel sheats, shall I go on??? A couple of the employees even were flirting with my new wife and other female guests! Also some of the employees will try to get more money off of you even though you have an all inclusive trip. If you are just wanting to go party then you might be ok. Never go there for a honeymoon or with you family for a nice stay. This place is only at the most a two star hotel. I got screwed for paying for a five star, dont do the same."
