"Large hotel complex separated by a public road. Security is present. Grounds are well kept. Food is average at buffet. 3 a la cartes - no reservations and no limit to amount of visits - Italian and Tex Mex are wonderful, Dominican is okay. Great kids club, great staff. Wonderful pool areas and swim up bar. Tips do go along way but are not always required. Rooms in garden section are a little worn and hot water is low at peak times. Beach has a reef and keeps the area shallow and calm. Great for kids, not snorkellers. Overall, a good experience at the Oasis Hamaca."

"This trip was absolutely amazing! I loved every second of it, and was in pure denial when i got home. The plane ride was a little tight, there was hardly any leg room. But the people working for Sunwing were beyond nice, and the food on the plane was pretty good (for plane food). We had in-flight movies, champagne, food, hot towels, etc. The ride from Punta Cana Airport to our hotel was quite an adventure. The 2 hr 45 min ride was beyond anything i've ever experienced! Our driver was off the road, in and out of traffic, and honking at everyone! It was really funny-part of the adventure. But if you're not up for that-be warned! The hotel was beyond anything I ever imagined! The pictures do not do it justice at all! It truly is a tropical paradise! The rooms were very clean, the Resort was MASSIVE, the people were so nice it got annoying (haha), the food wasn't as bad as i thought it would be (the Italian restaurant is the best) and the drinks were endless! I cannot even begin to describe how beautiful it is! My friend and I went for a great time, to party and have fun - and we got all that! The resort is very family oriented, there were not a lot of young people-so if you're going for a huge spring break like vaca i wouldn't recommend this first. All in all, amazing trip, very organized by Sunwing, the people were amazing - and I would go back in a heartbeat!!"

"Hotel was nice looking from the outside. Rooms need desperate makeovers. Not a 4 star but maybe 3. The staff were very nice and tried their best to accomodate all requests. Paying for drinks in room fridge is a rip off for a all inclusive resort. The Pelican restaurant was the nicest out of the six but was inclusive. 5 people for dinner cost 300.00 US. Beach at resort was quite small."

"Myself and 7 friends just returned from a week at the Oasis Hamaca. First of all, it is a wonderful 4 star hotel. I don't know who rates these things, but they must be the pickiest people. Also, note that I am not used to "slumming it" when I travel, the last two trips I took I went to brand new 5 star hotels, but we thought we would save some money this time, and it was fine! The food was quite good for a 4 star (I was in Cuba a few years ago at a brand new 5 star, and the food was much better at the Oasis Hamaca). There was lots of selection and it was very tasty!
The beach was really nice, although it was a little small. However, we never had trouble finding somewhere to sit even though we were there during March Break. The pools were also pretty nice, although the pool in the newer section of the resort was much quieter, with less activities.
The rooms looked a little old, but they were always clean and I never saw a bug. I think the main difference between a 4 star and a 4 plus or 5 star is how old the resort is. But who would spend more than a few hours a day in their room, except to sleep, when on a beach vacation with sun? The staff are great and very friendly! Overall wonderful time!!!"

"4 star hotel in Dominican Republic was not exactly same as 4 star hotel in Vancouver. But it was clean and staff are friendly. Food was good. Hotel was better than my expectations."

"This website said 4 star and so we booked our vacation with that belief. This hotel is a two star. Other people who booked with sunwing and were staying at the same hotel were also very disapointed. Rooms were dingy, the bathrooms were grimy and dirty. I stay in these types of places when I'm backpacking on a strict budjet... not on vacation!"
