"7 days vacation in the hotel, let my family feel disappointed.
1,there is internet available in fact in the hotel, but the front desk receptionist tell us not available.
2, there is one day the dirty towels were not be changed in the room.
3, the windsurfing board is not available for general traveller , only for professional athlete, and It is hid in storage.
Apparently the 4-star hotel didn't provide 4-star standard service for its customers"

"this was my 9th time to Varadero.
THE STAFF:The Turquesa is a very clean and small resort; the staff are always cleaning and tidying, and always have a friendly smile for you. The service we experienced was probably the best I've had yet. Everyone was very helpful and friendly, and tips were appreciated. Some places I have been to have staff that don't acknowledge the tip, or they seem indifferent to them, but here, sometimes they told me it was too much! And the women loved the manicure kits I brought as gifts; $2 each at PharmaSave.
THE ROOM: the rooms were nice and fairly large, the bathroom had a bidet. Lots of hot water. the pillows were like flat pancakes, but I had read some reviews so I was a bit prepared; brought my own towel and pillow. We had asked for a quiet room on the second floor and that's what we got. There is bottled water in the room on the first day only; keep your bottle and get it filled at the bar every day.
THE FOOD: Here is where it loses points; the buffet was quite limited. What they had was good, but the selection was about a 5th of what I've seen at other resorts. While I enjoyed the pasta and omelet stations, I got tired of the same meal every day. We tried the Japanese a la carte and it was basically the buffet food dressed up. I went with a friend, and we weren't fussy, but I know it would bother my husband or my daughter, both of whom are experienced travellers.
THE BEACH: This section of Varadero is amazing! The beach was so clean and the sand was ultra-fine. Perfect waves, and you could walk in either direction forever. We ran every morning and it was glorious. The only problem was that there was a lack of the comfy beach chairs. People would get up at the crack of dawn to put their towels on them, even if they didn't use them for hours.
ENTERTAINMENT: we had a lot of fun watching the shows. They are a bit amateurish, but we looked forward to them every evening. they had a circus show one night, and that was really good.
One thing we thought was a bit sketchy; my friend scraped her knee and went to the resort medico where the doctor insisted she spend 65 pesos on antibiotics, plus wanted to charge 50 pesos for the consult, all in cash! All my friend wanted was to clean the scrape with rubbing alcohol. She got it cleaned, said she'd think about the rest and be back in the morning if she wanted to do the antibiotics, which she didn't. We wondered if there would be a bill when we checked out but there wasn't. Was that a scam? We don't know. But I have experienced a few things like that over the years, and whenever a credit card won't do, I wonder if it's legit.
all in all, we had a great time, especially for the price. We spent $750 each, and I think we got our money's worth and more. We'd go back if it was just to two of us, but probably wouldn't take our spouses or kids to this resort, only because of the food."

"Stayed here in 2007 when it was the Riu Turquesa. Poopy beach, no waves cuz of the reef (beach was still, squishy and had critters) but pretty to look at. 7 pools; lovely. Nice room, good food, excellent service, quiet. Lots of stairs, walking. Rainforest-like surroundings. Big resort, had to take a golf cart upon arrival and departure because of luggage. Not much to do. Loved the aqua show.

"I went to this wonderful resort from Jan. 4th to 18th, 2009. My friends and family had read previous reviews and tried to convince me not to go. I'm so happy I decided to check out for myself because I would have missed out on a great resort. The people were bending backwards to please the tourists, the food selection was great whether you were vegetarian, pasta eater, meat lovers, or fish or chicken kind of people. The rooms were clean, well maintained. It is a super place for families with young children because it is close to all amenities on the resort, including the pool and mini club for kids. The activities and entertainment were fun for all. The beach was white, free of debris, and the staff always made sure we had clean chairs to lie on. I'm definitely going back in the Spring and recommend you go too. "

"Our hotel room was clean, however heard others mention that they did not have hot water all week. The beach area and pool area was very nice. We tipped the dinner waitress and hotel maid at the end of the week, and also the waitresses and bar help daily. When it is all-inclusive, I would prefer to pay a gratuity at the end of the week that would be shared, rather than carry pesos around all week. The only choices for meals is buffet or the outside bar area buffet. There was always something to eat, but there was a lot of repetition. Not enough variety in fish, we had the same fish at least 3 days of the week. Two weeks would have been too long. It would have been nice to have an a la carte dining room for a change.
I understand that there is a change of ownership, so I'm not sure if the RIU is still valid, if not, then RIU should be eliminated from the name. We stayed at a RIU in the Dominican Republic, and thought this hotel would be comparable. The hotel rooms, food and entertainment there were excellent, not so at the RIU Turquesa. The entertainment here included a lot of audience participation. If we return to Cuba we would only consider staying at a 5 star hotel, RIU Turquesa was a 4 star."
