"Breezes Jibacoa, stayed week of May 20, 2011. This is a wonderful 4 star resort and the only one that is located on the beach AND has wonderful tropical surroundings that offers hiking and local farm visits. We should know because we checked out a quite a few of the other Varadero resorts for the next visit. There were plenty of nice resorts but none had the tropical hilly surroundings. You will be impressed when you arrive and take in the view from the reception area to the beach which is lined by beautiful tropical trees on both sides of the walkway to the beach with several fountains on the way, it looks looks picture perfect. The accommodation was pretty good and the maids do a wonderful job making up the room. They really appreciate any small gifts left for them on the bed with a note e.g good quality soap, lotions etc. The restaurants offered plenty of variety, we are vegetarians and had no problem with food selection. The pool and hot tub area was fantastic with plenty of room for everyone. The beach was OK but did not like the rocks you had to walk over, this was painful for my wife and the only negative thing I would say about this resort. The staff are all friendly and don't expect anything from you, although they appreciate a tip given discretely. There was a local band that sang every other day at the restaurant, and we will never forget their rendition of Hotel California. Overall this was a great first time trip to Cuba, if you are looking for a quiet resort with great views then this is the place for you."

"We had a great time. This was our fourth time going to this resort. It is like coming home. The staff is wonderful and many of the people remembered us from our previous visits. Our children love this resort as well. Our rooms looked out on the ocean and we had a 30 second walk to where we sat every day. What can be better than that? The food was great. If you are unable to find food that you like then you are far, far too picky. The service by all staff was beyond good."

"This is the second time we have gone, and it was improved since the first time.The food was greatly improved and the had mint for mojito's. I was disappointed that the hotel did not post info.,about the coral reef that is fabulous, I saw many guests snorkeling, and when they stopped they would stand on the coral. They did not understand that when walking or standing on coral that they were destroying it. the hotel should educate the guests. I talked to the employees on the beach and they said ,
that would be a good idea..I would recommend this resort to any one that wants a relaxing vacation, great snorkeling.Good food. and friendly staff !"

"There are some people who expect high quality 3C diamonds for zircon prices. It seems that some of the writers of reviews on Superclubs Breezes Jibacao fall into that category. Admittedly the food at Breezes was not fantastic but it was adequate and in keeping with a four star hotel. However, the fare could be much improved by some use of seasoning (other than minute amounts of salt) and the kitchen staff would benefit from some training in this area. The "restaurants" were not much different from the buffet but served with a little more flair and more elegant surroundings -- but missing them would be no hardship. Neither restaurant could claim to have a "chef" as even the basic items lacked exciting flavour. The shrimps that were claimed to be fresh Cuba, were definitely frozen (from China?) and considerably below "restaurant" quality. As for the rest of Breezes -- it is spectacular! The place is spotlessly clean, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Despite the hotel being full, there was no sense of crowding, and all the facilities were readily available The shops there were excellent and the shaving gear was less expensive than in Canada -- so were the golf shirts! There was a cigar store and the Govt fixes the prices so forget trying to get cigars cheaper elsewhere. There was a live show every night and all were very entertaining as was the Havana "Special" bus outing which included a "must not miss" Tropicana evening. All in all it was good value for money and I would definitely go back again. If you want five star service then pay five star prices but as a four star spot the aptly named Breezes makes it in spades."

"This was my 3rd Cuba vacation and this hotel certainly met my expectations. I'd go back here without hesitation. It's not quite as well appointed say as the Bahia Principe in Varadero but the staff, beach and other guests offset the expansive gardens and landscaping I so enjoyed at Bahia Pincipe.
The staff are warm, attentive and efficient with requests. They seemed to genuinely enjoy the guests and vice versa. We met quite a few repeat visitors, which is a good indication of satisfaction. Most guests were Canadian or British when we were there. The main building with its lobby, bars, restaurants and lounges offered a good opportunity to socialize. There were also tables and benches tucked away around the building for those wanting to sit alone in a quiet place.
The beach was close and had easy access to the rest of the resort. There was never a shortage of loungers regardless of what time of day you arrived.
The gym was air conditioned although a little small for aerobics. the equipment that was there was in good shape. I really enjoyed the yoga and stretching teacher who actually knew what he was doing and communicated well.
The rooms were spotless, a good size and adequately appointed - nothing fancy, but comfortable nonetheless.
The food in the buffet was great at breakfast and lunch. Supper was hit and miss. The two a la cartes were easy to reserve. I preferred the Italian one. The Cuban a la carte was too loud and noisy. Lunch at the beach bar was not bad - simple but healthy.
I only attended one evening show, which was superlative - Cirque de Soleil should recruit here. I like quiet evenings and this place met the bill. The rooms are far enough away from the disco to ensure a quiet night's sleep. The rooms by the pool though could be more noisy until the evening show was over.

"This was our first time to Cuba, and we had a great time at this resort. The food was very tasty with quite a lot of variety, and the staff was always helpful and smiling.
We chose this resort from many recommendations from repeat travellers, and I can see why. The resort is out of the way, relaxing, and peaceful. If you are looking for a busy place where, with plenty of shops, discos, other resorts, etc, then this is certainly not the place. The resort is also small enough that even though it was full when I was there, there was still room on the beach and around the pool, and there was no waiting at the buffet in the evenings.
The only down side would be that it is 1 hour from Varadero by bus, so depending on flight times, it could make for a very late arrival or a very early morning when leaving. Of course, that also means it's 1 hour closer to Havana, which makes a day trip better.
If you are looking for relaxation, quiet, and good food, I would recommend this resort to anybody visiting Cuba."

"Very nice hotel - clean rooms, friendly service, great location half way between Varadero & Havana. Excellent snorkeling as you step into the water right onto a reef ; don't forget to take a banana from the breakfast buffet to feed the fish! Overall a great relaxing vacation!!"

"When we booked our trip we were a bit apprehensive,we had stayed there 4 years ago, and were worried that the standards might have declined---silly us!!!
This is a lovely resort in a beautiful setting. When we arrived we immediately recognised many of the waiters and desk staff--and to our surprise they remembered us, in fact it felt a bit like coming home . It appears we have joined the club of returning vacationers---one couple had been there 8 times and there is a rumour that one couple had visited 30 times over the past 10 years, but I find that hard to believe. We met many of them at a delightful cocktail party for returning guests.
I think that says it all---people come back to this place because the staff are friendly and do their jobs well--from waiters to gardeners to pool maintenance to cleaners to cooks. It has its own unique atmosphere --and is a bit of a Shangri La.
Highlights are:
* The piano bar, with a chance to chat to friends while drinking champagne---and an absolutely fantastic bartender --- I should know---I used to be one.
* The lovely grounds and the escorted walks in the countryside
* Rides on the catamaran
* Snorkeling
* Swimming in the ocean surrounded by tiny iridescent fish
* The scooter tours --which cost extra but are great value for money--especially the tours to Hershey and Matanzas
*The excellent breakfasts and the pasta bar and salad bar at lunch.
*The live music at dinner especially the band called Arakey
My only slight criticism is the evening meal sometimes consisted of an odd assortment of dishes, however the roast beef with yorkshire pudding and the roast turkey dinner--------as well as the cream of vegetable soups were excellent . I do realise purchasing food in Cuba can be a bit of a challenge, so perhaps that should be taken into consideration. Oh, I should add that they make a meringue cake which is simply divine--in fact all the deserts were good.
As we were leaving, Vivian, the manager of guest relations, came up and gave us a hug and said she hoped she would see us soon---and she will.
