"The service was very good. The airport pick up worked efficient. The procedure at the hotel desk was rather slow. The rooms were not ready, we had to wait a few hours before we were able to enter our room. We asked for a room change because the one assigned to us was in a very busy and noisy area. Upon request we were assigned a much better room in a quite area. Food was in abundance, but not always prepared to our taste. All in all it was reasonable and some dishes were indeed good. Liquor and coffee of very good quality was served almost 24 hours a day. We were very satisfied with our trip. The beaches and ocean were pristine. In my opinion sunwing should also offer a 3 weeks stay or even 4 weeks for retired people like us. Maybe you can swing this."

"I had an amazing stay at Brisas del Caribe and would not hesitate on going back. First of all if you are looking for luxury and to be pampered you should seriously reconsider. The rooms are basic but clean. I stayed on the third floor and only encountered one bug for my entire stay. If you are given a room on the first floor I would suggest you have it changed because I was very damp and there were alot of bugs roaming in the halls so i can only imagine the rooms. The food was generally horrible but I found something to eat everyday. I am an extremely picky person so the snack bar really didnt do it for me however everyone else i was with enjoyed the hot dogs and pizza there. The Italian a la carte is a MUST it was absolutely amazing. For breakfast i would suggest having your omlet or fried eggs made because the buffet itself was horrible. The staff were amazing with a few exceptions at the front desk (There were one or two receptionists who completely ignored us when we would approach them) but other than that we received exceptional service. My favorite was Margarita, a waitress in the buffet, she was incredibly sweet and sincere and remembered what drinks we asked for and always had them ready for us when we sat down. I became incredibly attached. Despite what a lot of other reviews say there wasnt a time during my stay where i felt obligated to tip the staff, all tips given were because i genuinely felt it was well deserved. Overall the hotel could use a little tlc, some paint here some putty there but regardless we had an amazing quality stay. Again if you are looking for the ritz carlton its not here... or anywhere in cuba for that matter."

"A friendly hotel with accommodating staff. Food was better than expected which included ketchup, mustard, salad dressings etc. Our bright clean room had a wonderful garden view. The evening entertainment of dancing and musicians was excellent every day. All in all, we had a very nice vacation."

"We traveled to Cuba in Feb of 2011 for the first time and it will not be our last trip there. Our resort was rated as a 4 star and it delivered everything it promised. There was a problem in the beginning when we were not given a room close to the other couple with whom we were travelling but that was fixed for us by our Sunwing rep.
I would recommend anyone staying at this resort and staying in the south section to ask for a room on the second floor in order to avoid the bugs that are common in this country.
Our room was cleaned daily however the bedsheets were not changed often enough. The food, although not gourmet, was more than adequate with many things to choose from daily at the buffet restaurant. Of the 3 al a carte restaurants I would not recommend the seafood one as we had our only true inedible meal there. Anybody who does not eat at this resort will do so by choice and not because of the quality of the food.
The staff at the resort were very friendly and helpful with the exception of the front desk where the standard answer is "come back later" even when there was nobody else waiting to be served. It can be frustrating but with a little patience can be overcome.
There are several pools for guests to enjoy and we never had a problem getting a lounge chair at any of them. The beach is well worth the short walk to get there and it also has plenty of huts and lounge chairs available for use. There are also garbage cans and ashtrays readily available but unfortunately are not always used by some guests. You will see some vendors on the beach but will not be approached by them. I would encourage you to check them out as they have some beautiful things for sale at good prices.
Overall I would rate this resort at a 3 to 3.5 Canadian and would have no problem recommending it to others nor staying there again. In fact we are hoping to take our whole family there next year.

"I visited Brisas Del Caribe from Feb 7-14 with my fiance. It was listed as a 4 star hotel and it's not. We had a room on the main floor in the south building which was wonderful. It's the quieter area with a pool, a pool bar and right beside the 24 hour snack bar/restaurant. Most of the workers were super nice however the reception workers need a major improvement. When we arrrived, they didn't even say a word; no hello, no welcome. They just took our hotel voucher and went about their business. Not a very good first impression. The 3 a la carte restaurants were quite good, the 24 hour snack bar was good as well with cappucinos and alcoholic beverages. The beach grill was okay, and the buffet restuarant was alright, except for breakfast. There was no adult cereal, just sugary ones, there were good pancakes and they made fresh french toast but no syrup or jams for toast. There was only white bread and buns; no whole wheat or grain bread. Overall, we had a good time and experience as we make the best of very vacation. We would recommend this hotel if you don't expect a 4 or 5 star one."

"Back when we stayed here it was the Brisas Del Caribe, management has changed but this was a great hotel w/ very helpful & friendly staff. The food was OK not like Vegas but as good as anything in Cancun or Mexico. The rooms were neat & clean with good housekeeping no issues or complaints. What I liked so much about this hotel were all the extras. That is 1 thing the front desk needs to work on, they didn't really tell people about the extras that well. There were 2 free tours, we missed 1 a sunset tour on a catamaran but caught this other 1 that was all day included lunch. I had been in Cuba once before this at a Superclubs resort that watered there drinks so I expected this hotel to do the same, whoa! They definitely don't water their drinks at this hotel not in 2000 anyway. Another complaint is there are mostly Canadians down there yet no Canadian news channels on the satellite. I remember my Dad complaining about CNN news which is useless they were going on about hanging chads the Bush Gore election never any weather back in Canada. I love the free use of sailing dinghy's or catamaran's. I'd go everyday I didn't have something else to do. The beach is great, but no coral reefs to snorkel near there. There was a beautiful lobby with a giant birdcage & all kinds or parrots etc in there. Great Spanish lessons, salsa dance lessons there was archery & shooting air rifles too. Another criticism was the nightly entertainment was pretty raunchy (I was w/ my parents & was embarrassed) & not as funny or entertaining as the Superclubs hotel."

"I can only rave about the wonderful staff. Yes, the hotel is old, but it is Cuba. The food was not too bad, once we figured out what to eat and what to avoid. I can highly recommend their seafood paella. We had that one afternoon on the beach, and it was really tasty. The hamburgers served at the bar closest to the beach is amazing.. just do not eat the hotdogs. Not much to do at night. By Thursday evening the hotel cabaret show was bad.. it was as if they were all tired. but overall the shows are not bad. I highly recommend that you take your own pillows... the ones in the rooms were very thin and eventhough we asked for better pillows, it did not happen.
Our safe was broken as well and also did not get fixed. But overall the rooms are clean. they do try their best to accommodate your needs as far as possible.
We did recommend to them to maybe include a beach party.
Other than the few issues we had, we will go back at the drop of a hat. Just the fact that the staff is so friendly and speak at least 2 or 3 languages, made it all worthwhile"
