"My girlfriend and i spent a week at club amigo and our first night did not start off so great. ( when the booking details say standard garden view don't think your getting a garden view) we entered our room come to find 2 single beds a broken sink and rust in the bathroom, we stayed for the night and upgraded the next morning for a extra 170 pesos to a beautiful ocean view villa. that's when we started to enjoy our trip. our week consisted of paddle boats, snorkeling, mopeds ( extra but worth it 25 pesos for 24hrs but make sure you fill it when its returned that only cost 3 pesos) and a few tours. For food you get what you get, breakfast and lunch are buffets and basically the same every day but for dinners i recommend to take advantage of the 3 free dinners your able to make reservations for, it gets you out of the crowded buffet room and someone serves you so you are not bumping everyone trying to get food on your plate. in my eye after the upgrade ( recommended) the trip was amazing great staff and amazing weather. Make sure you check out the flee market, they have some great deals."

"We were very happy with clean rooms and pretty good food at the buffets. A la carte dinners were great!!! Room maids, waiters, bar tenders were all very good and quick. The beach was fabulous, and we enjoyed mingling with the locals very much!

"My daughter (20yrs. old) and I stayed at Club Amigo Guardalavaca September, 08. Something had gone wrong with our booking, as a result; she got to stay in the actual hotel and I got a beach front villa. We had problems in the hotel, as the toilet was broken and could not be flushed also, the shower was broken. Hotel management promised that the repair would be done immediately, however; that did not happen. The following day, as a last resort, she moved into to my villa. There was no reimbursement from the hotel.
On the other hand, my Villa was extremely beautiful. It was quite large, bright, spacious and clean. Overall, the food was excellent. We had food and booze to our disposal 24hrs. The resort was clean and staff and other guests were amazingly friendly. This resort is quite a distance from the nearest town and you would need transportation to get there. Although there is not much to see in the immediate area, I love the resort and would go back again and again.

"I've been to all 5 star hotels before this is the first time I went to a 3 star and there is such a huge difference. I went with 2 friends and we had a good time. We liked the food it was a lot of fish so if you donÂ’t like fish not the resort for you. We're all young girls who didnÂ’t care much about the resort we went because it was cheap and we wanted to party and get a nice tan. They say they have a disco but itÂ’s really small and itÂ’s not much of a disco. The rooms arenÂ’t horrible mind you we were on the top floor every one who was on the main floor had bugs in there room, mold and water leaking. There was a lady who was crying because her room was so bad and wanted to get out asap. She wasnÂ’t the only one another guy paid to leave early. There was about 50 ppl that were on our plane that went to club amigo and out of those people I would say 20 of us had a good time. The staff was pretty awesome we made friends with some of the entertainment crew. Overall I had an awesome trip defiantly nothing close to a 5 star. If your expectations arenÂ’t too high then itÂ’s a good place just remember itÂ’s a 3 star for a reason. "

"This is a very beautiful resort which my friends and I loved very much. The only thing is the problem with the rooms. They were a bit "poor" looking (that is if you get the 3 star room), if you upgrade you get a nice luxury room in a two storey house. If not, you are stuck with a motel-look-alike, something what you might get travelling across U.S. off a highway. The food was not bad, although we noticed that sometimes they would "recycle" the food, or this is what we thought they were doing. Like, if there was pasta the night before, there would be a tone of pasta salad the next morning at breakfast. There are 3 buffet restaurants, and some le-carte restaurants. We tried to book the le-carte, however they said that there are no spots for the next 2 weeks. This really turned us off, when we walked by one of the le-cartes that evening, it was only quarter full, so we believe that they might have been lying to save money, thus be cautious of this and book WAY ahead so they won't have an excuse. Try to book before you actually show up to Cuba. Otherwise, the service was great and everyone was extremely nice. We left some small dollar store gifts for the cleaning girls and they LOVED it (more than money!). I recommand taking make-up, hygene products, soap, tooth paste and all other small things we take for granted because they really have a lack of it there. The ladies will be pleased and you might just get a swan on your bed. =) Enjoy."
