"Travelled with my partner, hotel and grounds were beautiful...beach left alot to be desired, very dirty. Garbage would wash up daily and worse after a rainfall....they tried to clean it but really it was of no use, garbage and weeds would just keep washing up. The pools were great with lots of loungers for all. The food was always a repeat and limited. Specialty restaurants well what could you say. Chicken Parmesan @ Italian restaurant meant chicken strips with a mushroom gravy and mashed potatoes, get the picture...however the soups were delicious. At the International a surf and turf consisted if 1/2 lobster tail and a tuff cut of beef. Beds could be a little more comfortable, but the rooms were always clean and well presented. Mini bar was kept stocked. The bars has the friendliest staff I have seen in a long time. Thank you to Angel (Lobby Bar) and Zunilda (Pool Bar), there were others but these two always had a smile for you and made you feel welcome. The entertainment was average (they seem to yell into microphones which makes it difficult to understand)....the disco mostly played latin music and very little english songs and was never a real busy spot, better music would have had it alive and hopping all night long.....Overall a good 3-1/2 star. However not for anyone who cannot handle LOTS of stairs."

"Our family of 4 had the pleasure of visiting Samana over Christmas and had the most amazing time. The people are absolutely wonderful and the staff at the Bahia Principe were gentle, kind and so pleasant. The food was 5 star and in particular the a la carte restaurants!. The grounds are exceptionally clean and if you like to walk you will find the location exceptional as it is situated on the side of a mountain. Our kids, ages 19 and 22 had an amazing time with the animation team who wanted to learn so much about Canada while we learned from them how to speak Spanish and about their culture. The resort is a 5 minute walk to town if you want to explore how the locals live. Lots to do for free at the resort and you can book snorkeling and other trips right on the beach. We have been to mexico several times and I would highly recommend exploring the Dominican and their wonderful culture!!"

"This was a great hotel and the prettiest because of how it was situated on the side of the mountain. The panoramic vistas from every vantage point around the hotel continued to take our breath away. Although all the stairs also took our breath away it gave us a good reason to indulge in the terrific food at the buffet and at the three a la carte restaurants! The staff was friendly, helpful and aimed to please. We were so impressed we plan to go again next December! All together the holiday was great!

"The hotel, rooms and beaches as well as all grounds in general were kept exceptionally clean. The ocean water was not crystal clear and there were waves coming in to stir up the sand while we were there. There was never a problem finding a lounger in the shade on the beaches. We were in one of the villas which was lovely and quiet with a fantastic view off the balcony. One thing about the villas is the number of stairs required to get to the main hotel where the buffet and access to main beach and pool was. There are shuttles that would take you up the hill but we enjoyed the climb and felt in better shape by the end of the week. I only gained 3 pounds which was amazing as the food was excellent and hard to resist. Staff was friendly whether you tipped or not."
