"Halcyon cove resort has the most beautiful beach on Dickenson Bay. The water is clear enough to see fish swimming at your feet. The beach is well looked after and even though the hotel was 98% full we never had problems getting a chair with an umbrella. The pool was occupied by children mostly. We never went to the pool because the beach was so spectacular. The resort staff were extremely friendly and attentive. One staff member even bought us a gift of a bottle of hot sauce to take home. The food was tasty but not spectacular. You had to get to the meals earlier than later to enjoy the variety. They did not replenish the buffet near the end of the cut off time. The rooms were very clean but needed some updating and repair. We had a kingsize mattress on a queen size bed frame. We saw a couple of roaches on the beach bar but we expect that in the carribean humidity. The hotel was quite proactive in spraying the rooms for insects. We saw one insect our first day but nothing after that. There is only one bar open at the resort during the day and that was on the beach. It would have been nice to have the lobby bar open as well to have a drink after lunch or even if you are in the lobby using your WiFi. The lobby bar did not open until 6PM. All bars closed down at 12:00 AM. This kept the young 20 year olds away from this resort. If you want a vacation that is an all night party this is not the place. The resort catered to couples and families. The entertainment was good but when it was finished at 10:00PM there was not even any music playing so that you could continue dancing. All in all the resort was exactly what we needed but much quieter than we are used to. We got a good deal on this vacation and it was well worth the money that we paid. This is not a five star so don't go there and complain and expect it to be. If you want to relax and meet fantastic people (the resort is small enough that you can do that) then this is the vacation for you!"
