"Although the accommodations were very basic and not fancy, the Resort itself was lovely.... The food was good, the staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean, and the beach was outstanding.....you won't find a nicer beach anywhere...request a room on the top (4th) floors to get an amazing view of the ocean, but be prepared to climb some stairs as this resort does not have any elevators...getting dinner reservations each day for the ala carte restaurants was never a problem and using the water sports equipment at the beach was very easy and convenient....dining on the beach at Lydia's was by far our favourite ala carte restaurant.....I will warn you that their Internet Service was very unreliable and rarely worked, so if you're on a working vacation you may find it difficult. Although the equipment in the gym was in good condition, the location and gym facilities themselves could use a major upgrade...... it was very cramped with very poor ventalation, but we still managed to get a decent workout in each day.... Since all beaches in Antigua are public, the local vendors will approach you, but they're very friendly....as long as you're polite and say no thank you, they won't bother you.....Overall, I would rate this resort a 3.5 star but with a 5+ star beach, and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again...."

"The most important thing to keep in mind is that JBR is a 3 star resort. Having said that, the beach is the reason one would stay at this resort. This is the most beautiful beach on the island. The hotel itself is older and needs updating. The front desk service is OK. The dining room staff are mostly friendly. The bar staff are excellent. The food ranged from very good some nights to OK on others but I always managed to find something I liked. The set up of the buffet area is poorly designed which creates long line-ups and confusion. Just go with the flow and enjoy the island attitude. "
