"When booking this hotel there was alot of confusion on exactly what the name and location of this resort was. I think perhaps the name has changed over time and there is also a Marival World residences and Spa which is same owner but different location.
Also when reading other reviews we learned to make sure to ask for the Grand side of the hotel not the Club side because of proximity to the theatre and night club and noise.
We were two families travelling with two small children each. When we checked in they gave us two of the worst possible rooms there could ever be. Noise from the theatre starts at 8 p.m til 10 and then the karaoke bar starts at 10- 11 or so then the night club starts. We complained and were told no other rooms were available as they were fully booked. I think what they were really telling us was that no rooms were available to us that booked with Air Transat but if we were Signature Vacations or some other company travellers then we could pay $$ to upgrade but not that night we would have to wait two more nights before anything was available. After some bitter complaining they offered to put all 8 of us in a 2 bedroom suite. After a night of noise we took the suite and were actually pleasantly surprised. The suite was on 2 levels but only had king beds. We ended up getting cots and sleeping with one child. We had two balconies, 3 bathrooms and a kitchen and living area. So in the end it was actually very nice.
The resort--- was awesome. Great for families, great for couples, great for groups. Lots to do, many pools, big wide open beach area, great restaurants, snack bars and the entertainment was awesome. Value wise this place was absolutely great and highly recommended. There is plenty to do for all ages of children and the kids pool was great for the smaller set as well as older kids.
The employees of this resort are awesome. The activities people are amazing. There was never any pressure or sales pitches of any kind by anyone. From the front desk person to the maintenance people walking by were all VERY pleasant. They made the place even more relaxing for us.
We only journeyed out of the resort twice. Once was to tour Puerto Vallarta and the other to go to Buceria. Both places were really amazing and I can't wait to go back.
Our week here was absolutely great. I have been to 3 other Mexico sun destinations before and I like this one the best so far.
My recommendation if you decide to stay here is to try and take advantage of as much as you can that the resort offers. Do the archery course, try the rockwall, go on a bike tour etc. you won't regret it. Definitely take in the evening shows too."

"Paradise.
There really isn't any other words to describe this magnificent vacation spot.
My family and I enjoyed this place to the fullest and we were just able to rest and not worry about anything.
If you're looking for a place where you can just relax, not worry and want to enjoy personal and family time, this is the place.
The minute we walked into the lobby of this resort, we were floored with the fabulous furnishing and detailed, sophisticated decorations. Although they were working on renovating the hotel, we weren't distracted or irritated by the construction (I'm sure they have finished anyways). The walls resemble marbles so you feel like a royal king/queen.
The staff members were really respectful and kind. They provided the best and constant care for us and went out of their way to just have a conversation with us. I do recall this one bartender, Francesco, who we were fond of. He talked to us in the upmost friendliest manner and, of course, served us amazing drinks. There was 24/7 hour food buffet where you could find various types of delicious food. My family would always get food at midnight and watch TV haha.
The resort was very clean. You couldn't find much garbage anywhere and plates, chairs etc. were also very clean.
At night time, there were amazing shows. Lots of dancing, music etc.
I can go on and on about this place, but you need to go there and experience it for yourself to understand the beauty of that place.
Club Marival = paradise

"I couldn't possibly have asked for more, considering the affordability of this resort. We and everyone we talked to during our stay at Marival were thoroughly impressed and satisfied. The place was squeaky clean from top to bottom, the food at the a la carte restaraunts was delicious (I recommend the Tuna Steak at La Bamba), the service superb, the activites fun, the beach clean and spacious, plenty of security, good for both couples and families. Take advantage of the games room, the bikes for touring, the golf clinic, the nightly entertainment, the games around the pool, the dancing. Email your restaraunt reservations 5 days in advance, then you won't have to stand in line to make them there. The negatives; you have to 'claim' your spot by the pool or on the beach early in the day or you may have a hard time finding a good one, the beds are dredfully hard BUT I asked the front desk for a pad to be placed under the sheets and it was done without hesitation which made a huge difference. There's a $30 fine if you lose your towel card/beach towel and mine was stolen once, but all I had to do was let security know and they gave me a knew one. Expect to pay $14 US for a safety box key ($100 fine if you lose the key). Overall, this place was awesome. my hubby and I had a very romantic time."
