"We just arrived from Melia Las Antillas last week... and have to say we have a amazing time. The resort has a great layout and it is easy to get around. The staff are so friendly and always remembered our names and drink of choice. The food was the best we had so far (this was our third time to Cuba) everything was fresh. All of the a la carte were awesome. Really enjoyed the Spanish and Italian one the most :) We stayed at the Vicara Villa which was a great location. Close to everything. The beach was awesome lots of room and chairs to go around. We love the fact that this resort was adult only !! Remember to bring your coffee cups, easier to have drinks in. Would recommend this resort in a heartbeat..... Enjoy :)

"Beautiful gardens, excellent food, excellent services, friendly and considerate staff, clean, grounds landscaped to please all and of coarse the nightly entertainment completes the day nicely. And yes, the hop, skip & jump to reach the beach is absolutely fantastic. The guests (from different parts of the world) seem more easy going & friendly, very warm atmosphere. I would recommend Antillas to one and all. Will visit again next year. Two thumps up!!"

"The Melia Las Antillas was a nice hotel, the beaches were gorgeous, the rooms were clean, and the food was very good. Fresh fish and lobster every day! There are a couple things I would of liked to see better at the hotel and that is there is no real beach bar/snack bar on the beach, there is a bar in the trees but it is still a hike so it can be kind of a pain in the butt if you are a person who likes to hang on the beach all day. (Bring a thermose) Also, there is a gross smell by the one side of the pool that smells like sewer and every once and a while you would get a breeze so don't get a room on the Eastside of the pool. We were on the Westside and it was nice, no smell and lots of privacy. Overall for the price, beach, cleaness and location the hotel was great. We would give it a 3.5 out of 5."

"Visited in 2005 when this was Beaches Varadero. Wonderful all around; best room ever with a king sized bed, sunken lounge area, balcony. There were two outdoor hot tubs. The a la carts were the best I've ever been to, with really good food and service. Absolutely stellar beach, good buffet and snack bar. Great service all around, and stellar evening entertainment; the dancers were all really good (I grew up in dance studios so I could tell), both music and stage shows were excellent. Loved the aqua show. NOTE: this was a 16+ resort; no kids, and a larger number of drunks.

"Stayed a week in Oct 2006 and was disappointed with the resort, unfriendly staff and the buffet (salty food). The staff spent more time talking and serving each other rather than paying attention to the guests requests. The food definitely had no flavour or taste other than salty. The resort accomodiation was OK, apart from the ants and other bugs in the room. "

"It is an average hotel to stay if you have never been to Varadero, Cuba. Definitely not a 4 stars hotel. The lighting (at night) within the hotel area is not sufficient. Watch your steps when walking around at night! When you walk aroung the pool area, please never walk with bare feet, day or night! Too much broken glasses! Using glasses for serving a drink should be banned at the pool area. The beach towel booth closes up too early! At 6:00 pm! Some day trips will not be back before 6:00 pm.
Restaurant - food is ok but not toward the end of the week i.e. weekend. All used tables were not be cleaned right away after the customers left. The Cuban restaurant (Amazon restaurant) serves extremely salty food that can elevate you bloodpressure in no time. If you have heart or kidney problems, you should NOT dine in this restaruant. When I mentioned to the waiter regarding the food is absolutely NON EATBLE, he seemed doesn't care. This seems to be not only my comment but other people staying in this hotel also agreed. How about the seafood restaurant - there is no more seafood left during the regular dinning time. You can only have steak! Very disappointed. Italian restaurant is ok.
If you are a certified diving and love scuba diving, you may love to stay in this hotel. The hotel includes daily scuba diving (except Sunday) for certified divers and beginner divers. You will get a lot of warm up exercises before you actually dive in the ocean because you will use up all your energy by just walking to the beach with full gear and swimming all the way to the boat. The same apply to you way back to the diving centre! The diving activity is very depending on the weather. Water sports - don't be too excited when you see the list of included water sports. They tend not to be available everyday. We only have 2 waterskiing for the 8 days stay, same with the banana boat ride. If you would like to try out the windsurfing. My God! you will never able to surf back to the hotel even though you have years of experience - dagger board is missing! Be prepare to swim back with your windsurfer or yell for help. There is only 1 windsurfer on site! The room is clean and people who work in the hotel are very nice. The ladies who work in the tourism booth are extremely friendly."

"A nice hotel, but very hard to believe belongs to the Sandals chain. It looks like it was a beautiful place at one point but is now very tired looking. Mostly due to patrons but partly due to maintenance, garbage and cigarette butts go uncollected from most areas including the beach. The beach and water were very nice. Food was good at the buffet and at the a la cartes. The rooms were well cleaned and the maids were friendly. WE FOUND NO BENEFIT TO THE CONCIERGE UPGRADE. Nightclub was good. A fun crowd drawn to the resort. "
