"I was not impressed with this hotel at all. The food is terrible. The hotel needs a lot of repairs The house keepers and and waiters and waitress are great. The front desk staff are not friendly do not hardly understand English, and seem to have different rules for everyone that stays there. My friend fell 2x as it had been raining and the floors were very slippery. I have been to Mexico many times and never felt that I want to leave way before my holiday was over. I would never go back there and would not recommend to any let alone my friends"

"Awesome Hotel, fabulous accommodations and plan on returning. Hotel is the best handicap accessible hotel I have seen. Food was great and very kid friendly. Beach was amazing, especially with kids, never had to worry about tides or waves. Snorkeling at the beach was awesome !!!"

"I stayed at the Occidental Grand Xcaret from May 28 to June 4, 2011 and had a great time. The hotel is so clean and the grounds are very lush with beautiful flowers. There are wild animals running around the grounds and they are so cool to see. The pools are all lovely and clean. The restaurants all served good food, I never went hungry! I enjoyed the drinks, especially the Dirty Monkeys. Vodka, Kahlua, banana and milk. Totally yummy. All the staff were very friendly, always smiling and saying Hola when they passed you in the grounds. All in all there is nothing negative I can say about my trip. Would I reccomend it? Yes of course I would!"

"It was my first time in Riviera maya, and it was amazing, the resort is huge!! there's so many pools and place to eat during the day and many bars also. I was there with my boyfriend and it was perfect for us. It's mostly families or couples ( So young people that want to party and meet other young people FORGET IT lol) The food was really good, the staff reallllly nice!! even if you don't give tips everytime ( but its better to give, because they work so hard and they never stopped) The room was very clean and the A/C always working well! On the resort you see beautifuls animals : perrots, lezards and birds and another furry animal that i couldn't tell what it was! and what is really nice is that we were 5 minutes walking from the nice parc Xcaret (that have many activities, beach, exotics animals etc) and from the hotel it,s around 10 minutes from Playa del carmen ( a must see)"

"We were moved to this hotel from the Allegro Playacar due to overbooking. It was nice but it took us three days to figure our way around because it is so big! The food was OK but there were lots of complaints because it is listed as a five star....not five star food by any means. The beach is small and manmade and you cannot walk on either side past the hotel as it is all rocks and very dangerous. The rooms were great and kept well. We will go back to the Mayan Riviera but probably to a place that is smaller and one that we can enjoy our long walks. XPLOR was awesome, Xcaret was OK."

"This is the second time going to the Mayan and I'd say this hotel was much better then the last one. the food was amazing and the staff was excellent. The beach was small but not over crowded. The pools were very nice and there were a few so they were never over crowded or didn't have seats available. It was a fantastic location and had lots of things to do for all ages. My only non smiley face was the beds and pillows were rock hard."
