"After several nights in Havana, the Paradisus Varadero was a complete change of pace. This property has an absolutely beautiful lobby, beach and grounds. The junior suite was large and clean with all the amenities there but quite basic. Believe it or not they had CTV Saskatchewan and Manitoba on the TV, so there were movies to watch!!! The food was quite monotonous at the buffet with an occasional surprise. I took to practicing my Spanish and getting friendly with the staff at the grills who were very obliging in cooking as I suggested with spices and sauces to add to the meat and vegies. It actually worked out very well. The a-la-carte restaurants prepared food like Crepe Suzettes and Chateaubriand but they were really not that. I don't think that there is the understanding of what these dishes are. As a foodie, I can not recommend the food. The joy of this resort is really the people who work there. The musicians and the dancers were so fantastic, especially Reinier. These hard working people really made the trip for us. The 70's party was a blast! I just wished we had more time to spend with these wonderful people in that lovely spot."

"The Paradisus was an clean hotel. The only thing we found is that the beds are rock hard and so are the pillows. If we were to go back I would request for an upgrade. I truly expected a more moderate hotel."
