"Awesome reception, staff were friendly, anything you wanted...just ask... Food was fantastic ! Lots of variety. You can pick your own coconut outside your patio and present it to the bar, they know what to do...yummy.
Other couple with us returned to same place 1 month later for 2 weeks, had excellent time. Returning in November from NB"

"My girlfriend and I stayed at Playa Costa Verde from Mar. 22-29 2011. The weather/flights and transit to and from the airport were perfect. The resort is centred between the Blau Costa Verde and Playa Pesquero both in location and price, with the Pesquero being the nicest on that strip of beach. The food at the buffet was very good with fresh fruit and a grill but can become somewhat repetitive after a while. The food at the 24-hr snack bar on the other hand was poor. The A-la-Carte restaurants were good but dress-attire is required which is, in my opinion, silly. snorkling is great right off the beach (especially when you venture out to a further coral reef) but beware that fish also become larger. At one point a silver fish of about 5-ft swam past, which was somewhat unnerving.
The accomodations were average. The shower had great water pressure and warm water the first couple days, then hot water thereafter, however the rooms felt well used and somewhat dirty. It appeared as though the bedspread was not changed prior to our arrival. Also, some days we got new toilet paper/bottled water, other days we did not. Having a safe was essential for keeping valuables, which was provided at no charge. One of the main things to be aware of is that if you book an excursion, make sure you are there 15 mins early. We arrived 2 mins early (for an 8 am excursion) and were told that the bus had already left. The front desk staff (who were not very accomodating/helpful) called the bus on our behalf (however I had to pay for the call) and told us that the bus would return in 15 mins. This never happened but we were able to get a refund, however we would have preferred to have gone on the excursion. Overall, I would say this resort is probably worth around $1000/wk max all-in. We paid $859/person but we would not pay more than we did. Anything $700 or less is a great deal."

"Our vacation at playa costa verde in general was amazing, we encountered some minor problems but not enough to spoil our vacation like our safety deposit box did not work and the sink was not draining well the first 2 nights but the staff was able to fix them when I brought it to their attention. We stayed for 8 nights and everyday was fun ... all the staff are willing to help and are very accomodating to the guests, they are friendly and always smilling. The food was great... you can eat anytime you want and you have a wide variety to choose from. The hotel rooms are better than what I expected... they are clean and well maintained. The pools and the beach are excellent and the whole resort is beautiful. You will surely get your money`s worth and even more. I give it a 4.5/5 rating. I would love to go back at playa costa verde."

"Had a great time in costa verde. The hotel is nice, small 2 story buildings not to spread out, but just far enough from the pool and bars to have quiet nights. Check in was fast and easy. Staff are very friendly and help full.
Food- Good buffet, lots of choices, no lines, but at my time of visit they were not running full capacity. Al la carte's were great, especially the Japanese and italian (get the beef). Snack bar good for pizza and calamari. Beer corner a must as you can get the good stuff in a can.
The beach is a bit of a hike from the accommodations, which is good for exercise to burn off all the beer from the night before. Lots of chairs, couple huts and trees for shade. Water is great, clear, lots of small reefs and fish to see close to shore. Sand mites were bad. Did not bother me (eat lots of garlic), but lots of people had welts on their legs and very itchy red spots. (cured with vodka).
The Rooms nice, big and simple. Not much drawer space. Beds decent, its not a 5 star remember. If on the ground floor, you will here heavy footed people above. Only downfall- you cannot take the hobbie cats out alone."

"The pictures of this resort on this site really do not do any justice for how beautiful this place is. We always felt very safe and very happy. The food was excellent, the staff was so nice and we never felt obligated to tip. I would definately come back to playa costa verde."

"Great beach, lots of room but not a lot of palapas so bring the sunscreen. Tends to be windy but it is blowing offshore and it thus great for windsurfing and not cold at all. The food was very good for Cuba. The staff I thought were excellent, you never felt the need to tip but when you did there was always a genuine smile and even better service next time. Check out the beer garden with Dixandria she is very chatty. The Sunwing rep Ernesto was very helpful and available."

"This was our third visit to Cuba, first time to Holguin. We enjoyed our stay at Playa Costa Verde very much. My wife and daughter was extremely happy with the resort. The staff are very friendly, the rooms are clean. the grounds are well kept. We enjoyed the specialty restaurants, there were no problems in making reservation. The ice cream parlour and the beer garden is a nice touch (you must go and see Dixandra at the beer garden). The lobby area and bar is well laid out and the service there is excellent. This is a fantastic place for a family trip (my daughter enjoyed the kids club and the night activities for the kids on stage). We will definitely visit this resort again."

"The hotel needs some upgrading. All furnishings are showing their age. The rooms were clean but in much need of repairs. The walls are VERY THIN which makes for many sleepless nights. The pool needs new tiles as many are missing. More chairs are needed at the pool. They have the room."
