"The staff are very friendly and accommodating.
The rooms were clean and functional.
The buffet was better than good, very tasty lots of choices, the Ala ca-rte was just OK.
What I liked most about this resort was that it was relaxing.
Because it was a bit on the smaller scale, this made it more intimate, which I like.
I met fellow travellers from France, Argentina, Holland,England, and some Canadians as well.
People made a genuine effort to connect, some in broken English and others attempting some Spanish or French.
Taking the shuttle is easy to go to Playa or the beach, a bit of a drag waiting for it if your timing was off.
All in all a great experience and I would recommend this resort to Families or the forty & over crowd as it is laid back and not a party till you puke place!"

"We stayed for 2 weeks at Lupita. This is a RIU resort, and you can use the Beach Rius, just take the shuttle bus. It runs every 30 mins. Room, basic, but clean with shampoo, soap supplied. You have a FREE in room safe and a FREE mini bar and a FREE liquor dispenser. 4 types of liquor, beer, pop, drinking water. We requested in advance for an upper room and Riu chain does their best to give you the room you want. We found the beach club (10-min drive on bus-free) beach not so good, plus they only have beer there, so we just walked 10 mins. to the Riu Playacar or Riu Yucatan. Both have A1 buffets and pools, plus beaches are fine.
You will enjoy the Lupita, if you want a smaller place. Only one bar and snack shack isn't the best. Pools fine (one quiet pool) and entertainment fine.

"Riu Lupita was very good value for the money spent... It's more of a 4* resort (not on beach & small rooms) however, the Staff & Animation Team are great!! It totally makes up for it. Plus, if you want a change in scenery, you can just take a walk to the Tequila and Yucatan resorts for a day. The room was cleaned everyday and the fridge was replenished every day also, it always help to introduce yourself to the room attendent and leave them a little something on the pillow (which I did every other day...) I found the food to be quite diverse and tasteful. There were somethings which I didn't really like but there was always so much choice. The nightly entertainment was a bit of a snooze on some nights. What I really didn't appreciate was the Techno music played by the DJ at Pacha -that I could've done without. All in all it was a GREAT one week vacay and I would totally re-book again for the Lupita."

"Stayed at the Lupita from June 3 to 17, 2006. Trip arranged through Escapes. Myself and my companion both in our 50's found this resort to be exactly what we were looking for. The relatively small size allows one to get to know the staff and seemed to result in a more personal level of interaction. The clientele seems mainly European thus if topless offends you then perhaps go somewhere else (as in another destination). Service and selection in the buffet was so good that we didn't even bother with the Ala Carte restaurant. The bar service was excellent with the waiters willing to make any drink you described whether or not it was on the menu. Helpful Hint: One U.S. dollar in the mouth of an empty Corona bottle and put back in the fridge results in them being replaced very rapidly. "
