"Overall a not bad experience. The hotel is kept very well by extremely hard working staff. The buildings are all freshly painted and look clean. The food is good, beach is good. The bars put way too much alcohol in the drinks which is typical of this sort of resort. I had to get assertive with them to only put 2 oz in my cup before mix so I could drink it without gagging, if you like close to straight alcohol that's what you get. The entertainment is typical beach resort type stuff, I noticed the kids club on several occasions and they all seemed to be having a blast. Washrooms were kept very clean which was nice. Our Sunquest rep was very knowledgable and pleasant to deal with. I would recommend that the resort tell you that you may need an adapter for your electrical appliances if your plug is any larger than regular. After 2 days of asking the desk for loan of an adapter, which was promised, I had to leave my rather expensive Ipod dock to the front desk every night to have it charged only to find out more than half way through the week that the gift shop sold adapters for $2.00 american. Why wouldn't they just say that in the first place?
The worst thing here is the beds! Mine was very uncomfy and smelled sour always. Even with fresh sheets. I believe the use some sort of moisture resistant cover on the mattresses and it was pretty awful to sleep on. The pillows were not nice smelling either. We covered up with towels each nite for pillows and I slept on top of the bedspread and sheets with the extra blanket to escape the smell.
Maybe they just need to replace some beds and hotel linens."

"Hola Everyone!
For a woman in her fifties travelling alone, I found this hotel was perfect for me. All the hotels facilities were at a very short walking distance. I was clean, and I felt safe and comfortable to roam freely anywhere. The staff were friendly and helpful. The grounds where landscaped with graceful trees, the ocean was warm and inviting. The food was well prepared, and they made every effort in preparing delicious meals. The entertainment staff were always about to make sure everyone left with a great experience. Wish I could have stayed longer. 5/5"

"Just got back from a great week with a few exceptions.
Food was excellant, service was exceptional EXCEPT for a few of the front counter staff. The worst one was Ryberto I believe his name was. Rude, arrogant, I can only assume he was related to someone in management because no one was even close to his rudeness.
Supposedly the resort exchanges Canadian & American money but they never had anything but large bills, Dominican or US. Everytime I tried to get 100 Pesos (about $3 US) converted to something smaller for tipping they never had anything.
Watch out for the phone card they try to promote. For $20 US you get 30+ minutes to anywhere in Canada & US. When you check out you find out that everytime time you use the number from the card you are charged $2 US, even if the number you are calling is busy. And when we complained about not knowing anything about the charge, we were told that they told us before we bought and that is why the hotel does not recommend buying the card. (They put the phone card info in an envelope with your safe key, beach towel cards, room key?)

"As per others the hotel is dated, but this does not take away from the cleanliness and service. The staff were great in taking care of all our needs, room was very clean, food was very good lots of variety. The grounds were beatiful and beachs were pretty good for the region. The use of all three RIU's in the complex was convienent in getting food and services. We used only hotel reccomended tours as some of these tours can be questionable. Overall it was a great trip and we would go back again."

"This was a fantastic resort. Slightly older, the upkeep and the service definately keep this resort running smoothly. The food was incredible, the service untouchable. We had a great time and will look for RIU resorts in the future. It was great being able to share the 3 reorts."

"Amazing trip, hotel was excellent. Went to the Mambo because it was cheaper than the other two, but after being there I enjoyed everything at the Mambo better than the other two Marengue and Brachata. Better food, better entertainment. Would definately go back."

"Stayed Nov. 2 to Dec. 16/06. This was a return visit by us & as was our last visit we had a fantastic time. Very clean & great service. Food was very good, beach also very nice. Good extra feature was use of three hotels. Special mention of Susy (hotel reception leader) who went beyond what we expected to make our stay 1st class. Also Freddy (head of restaurants & buffet) was great & very willing to accommodate our needs. We did take our father of 86 years. This Resort is good for those who have difficulty with stairs. We will be returning in 2007. Can't wait. Final comment, book with Jason at Escapes, he is great & will look after your needs. Thanks again to all."
