"We just came back from Sol Cayo Coco and were pleasantly surprised, there were a variety of food choices at the Buffet never went without, bar service was fantastic thanks to Saul and Duanne, Rooms were clean no musty smells, the beds are a bit firm but we weren't bothered by that ..clean towels and sheets as well they replenished us with a big water bottle everyday..if you get a superior room they do stock the fridge but we were in a regular accomodations...sections 2200 are renovated. at this time of year it was windy as it is their winter...but the bonus at this resort is you get a choice of two beaches, the main beach infront of the hotel and one that is off to the side we spent the majority of our stay at the one on the side as it wasn't as windy...beautiful beach and prestine waters...I hight recommend going to this hotel as it is a great value for your money truly a 4* in our opinion...you do have access to two other hotels which we took advantage of the Sol Guillermo and Tryp Cayo ...Sol Guillermo is nice and a 50 min trolly ride away it was nice to get to spend the day at another resort just to get an idea for the next time you book what is available to you...The Tryp was in walking distance about a 25 min walk off the beach ..it looked ok...but we preferred the Sol Cayo Coco due to the option of the less windy beach area... We are planning to go back next year..only negative in this review is the wind which the hotel has no control over...but we were told it was due to the season we were in. This is a great resort for families as there is alot to keep the children occupied. Animation staff go above and beyond to make it a pleasant stay at this hotel...and Micheal at the front desk is very accomodating as well as David our Air Canada Representative."

"this resort is just fine. the decor is a little tired but they are renovating. the people are great! the beaches are awesome. always something to eat at the buffet. cold beer. beautiful grounds. 10 mins from airport. not much to do but laze around which was perfect. only complaint would be the hard beds. if you are looking for a relaxing vacation then go here. also visit pillar beach and have the lobster!"

"If you like 150 m/hr winds everyday on the beach, then this is a place you wanna go to. The sand blows in your face and my 2yr old sun blew away. The food is the same everday at lunch and dinner. No steak but awful tasting fish, and pork chops evernight that dont taste like porkchops. All they do at the shows is dance which is fine, but i like a play or a magician or even a clown for the kids???? I liked the pool and the resort and especially loved the people...who also loved my children. I recommend crystal beer down there as it is tasty-overall we did not have a bad time, just the food and not being able to use the beach or walk along the beach as it was just so windy-I recomend Grand Punta Cana in Dominican resort. We were there 4 years ago, different theme everynight, chinese ,italian, canadian etc.THATS VARIETY!"

"Hotel grounds and beaches deserves a 5 star rating but the hotel is in need of polish and repair. Our shower didn't work at all and we couldn't lock our sliding door once we opened it. I rarely complain about the food at resorts but the food at the Cayo was mostly battered or fried. I was expecting fresh grilled seafood but encountered English styled fish and chips instead. I ate fried prawns, salad and fruit so I was happy for a week but not any longer. While some staff members were nice, I found a lot were indifferent and some very rude. I like to tip discreetly and not to make a big show of it as I find Cubans to be very proud so I'm not sure why the service was so poor sometimes. Maybe they regard all tourists as loud and obnoxious. If you just want rest and relaxation-this place is fine but if you want to do any exploring on your own forget it. There are no local buses and the only way to get off the hotel strip is to take one of the hotel tours which entails a lot of waiting time for pickups and drop offs at the other resorts. "
