"We had a nice trip for the money we paid - we would consider this a "value vacation." Cayo Largo is a quiet island, not much to do or see. This was perfect for us, as all we wanted to do was relax! However, if you are looking to do any dancing, shopping or intricate excursions, this is not the destination for you. The hotel was ok. Big, clean rooms. Basic buffets, nothing fancy. The food did not have much variety, there were a lot of deli meats, bread, and cheese at every meal. Not many fruits, vegetables or seafood to choose from. The drinks were nothing special either. They did not have a blender at any of the bars, so there were no slushy cocktails. Just basic mixes. Bartenders also did not know how to make anything off the menu (and the menu only had about 10 drinks on it.) Water was hard to come by - you got one bottle in your room per day, which was not enough for two adults let alone a family. The beach was large. The water was very rough - red flags every day we were there except for one yellow flag day. No snorkeling from the resort - there was nothing at all to see except a sandy bottom. However, the sand was soft and white, and the water was a beautiful turquoise, so the beach was quite beautiful to gaze upon. We went scuba diving one day, and it was expensive and poorly organized. Once we got down, there was not an abundance of marine life where the dive master took us. Would not recommend diving here. On the bright side, the weather was absolutely perfect. Nothing but sun and warmth the whole week we were there. Would recommend this trip if you're looking to lay in the sun for a week at a decent price."

"This has been our second stay at the same hotel (Dec. 2003 and Dec 2007). On our first trip, the experience was unbelievable, only great things to say. The staff is very friendly and they love children (there’s no family on the island). On our second trip, we had difficulty with our room (they gave us a standard room and we paid for ocean view). Explained at the reception and they suggested to speak to our rep. Brought it up to the tour rep who was not helpful at all. She could not remember what our issue was (we went to explain to her at least 4 times) and then told us to come back on the following day at 09:00 that she would have it resolved. Well on the following day at 09:00, she could not remember why we had come to see her. When reminded of our meeting and why, she said we had to wait until she could do something (3 – 4 days). So after many tentative approaches, I called long distance (I had to pay for this) our agency in Montreal to resolve the issue. We were upgraded on the following day with no apologies / refund whatsoever.
All that being said, the stay is great and relaxing and the drink selection was more than reasonable. Barman could use a bit of smiles but I guess they get tired after all that work. More palapas and beach chairs would help a lot however still very nice place to rest. Be noted that they do provide umbrellas for the beach. Playa Sirena and playa Paraiso are incredibly beautiful, soft sand and beautiful water. Great place for walk lovers.
Food was very good and plentiful. They will do their best to get you what you want and the waitresses are very friendly and helpful. They remember you and you get your drinks served before you sit down (coffee, wine water etc).
The rooms were clean and if you want anything from the gardeners, they will gladly oblige (tipping is important here). We did ask for a straw basket, straw hat, straw grasshopper and flowers and they always delivered. Hint: Get a green coconut and go to the bar for some Rum, very good blend. I started that and the gardener was more than happy to supply (he made lots of money that day).
All in all, it's a very good place to go and rest. Few mosquitoes at dusk but bug spray is not a bad idea. HereÂ’s a suggestion, get information to release the baby turtles at the hotel, itÂ’s worth it, bring your camera.
The spas were out of order (could not get the parts, remember this is a small island) and the waterfalls above the pool as well for the same reason). The pools are clean and in great condition and the pool bar is great chatting place. On our last trip, the sand on the beach had vanished after 4 days to be coming back when we were leaving. Not uncommon as IÂ’ve seen the same effect in Barbados.
So if you need to recharge your batteries, this is the place to go. We will definitively go back this year."

"J'y suis allée en mars 2008. Endroit très propre. Personnel courtois. Nous avons bien mangé. Les pâtes sont excellentes !
Points à améliorer : l'entretien des chambres est bien mais pourrait être mieux. Ajouter des chaises longues et des palapas serait très bien !

"I had a hard time getting my room cleaned by the staff. I think most people were tired or not in a good mood. The place was ok but need serious improvements. the rooms need a little boost and the food ...a new chef. I wouldn't go back."

"This was our seventh visit to the same hotel since 2000. The grounds are very peaceful and well kept. The rooms are fine, but aging and could use an upgrade. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is ok but not as good as is was some years ago. Some shortages here and there. If you like seafood you won't starve. Too bad about the beach, after a few hurricanes there is not much left. Many palapas are gone, good idea to hand out umbrellas to take to the beach. Overall we had a great time, came back relaxed and will vist again. Take the Havanna excursion, well worth the money."
