"Although the rooms in the motel were a little dated, the motel itself was very modern. The hotel staff were very friendly and eager to assist with anything that we needed. The food was surprisingly good; from what I had heard, I was expecting to be very hungry during our trip, but they had a variety of choices including pork chops, chicken and steak, which were cooked right in front of us. We went on all the excursions as well and they were amazing, I highly recommend them to all travellers. The location of the resort was central as we were very close to the city for shopping and close to the bars, which were great as we like the night life. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone who wishes to travel to Varadero in the future."

"While this is not the fanciest hotel on the beach, it is clean, has great service, has the largest and best beach front. There are activities to participate in to keep you busy or lots of space to relax. Was not too noisy. We had low expectations of the food, and were pleasantly surprised as the food was great. I would definitely recommend this for a family or young group. We will return here."

"My family and I went to the Sol Sirenas-Coral All Inclusive Resort in Varadero Cuba the week of May 15-23 2009. The only bad thing we have to say about our trip was the the flights from Calgary to Varadero sucked!! Otherwise everything was amazing. The resort itself scared me when I first saw it because it looks kind of run down and old but its Cuba right? Everything is being restored however to look newer and the inside of the building looked amazing!! So when we first arrived at the resort, we left calgary at 5:10pm on friday the 15th and got to our resort at 12:00pm on saturday the 23rd, our rooms weren't ready and we had to sit around and wait for about 3 hours until we got our rooms. There were 6 of us in three rooms so we understood why it took so long. Anyway they did keep all of our luggage in a hospitality room and gave us our wrist bands before we checked in so we could go and explore the resort. The rest of the week after that was completely amazing!! The resort is split into two separate resorts. My family stayed on the Sirenas side because the Coral side was shut down for low season, but all of the restaurants and pools and bars were still open. When you go to the buffet restaurant at the Sirena's, find Luis!! He was our waiter for the entire week and he is an amazing guy!! When we walked in the door for dinner service, he already had our table ready for us and had our drinks ready at the table before we even sat down with our food, he was nice and personable and will do anything for you!! When you go to the Lobby bar, find Ariel!! He is an awesome bartender., My boyfriend asked him to make anything he wanted using the lime slushie that they had and he ended up with this blue green drink. The boyfriend and Ariel bantered for the rest of the week on whether it was blue or green and we even got the rest of the people at the bar drinking them!! The alcohol is very strong, or at least it was for me so be careful of that. The beach was amazing!! The sand was so soft and the water was a clear blue!! The katamarans were a lot of fun, and the entertainment crew was awesome. We spent one day in Havana as well and I would defnately recommend taking the day trip there! It is a beautiful city with so much history!! Overall, the 6 of us had an amazing time and wwe had so much fun!!"

"For all those who assume the worst of Cuba and resorts - this is a pleasant surprise. There of course if drawbacks to Cuban resorts - they aren't as meticulous as elsewhere -stucco, chipped tile, dripped paint, creaky doors, pretty open concept so easy for bugs to get in/out, but for the money this place was great!
Our biggest drawbacks was the elevator was down while we were there - but was being worked on, and our patio door didn't slide well. But, our room looked exactly as pictured, had a hair dryer, safe, and bathroom!
But, personally enjoyed the 2 halves of the resort..made for a good and a better half. This also created double the beach bars, double the buffets, restaurants, and pool areas! Considering all you hear about Cuban food we never lacked for it - and the a Mediterranean and Grill restaurants were actually quite decent.
My favourite things were the homeade Pina Coladas, the beautiful beaches and the lizards everywhere :) I would say for anybody on a budget this really is a great place, just so long as you keep in mind you are in a 3rd world country and sometimes that is the best they can do. They try hard all around and i would go back."

"Star ratings in Cuba are hit and miss at best and this resort was definitely not the 4 star it rates itself. Coral & Sirenas are 2 resorts/hotels that have joined, so staying here means lots of walking as our Coral buffet was closed we walked almost 1km back and forth to Sirenas buffet. Sirenas swim-up bar was closed, so the reverse for those staying there. The resort was very clean and the staff hard-working & friendly, but very run-down compared to others nearby, with lightbulbs missing, damage to concrete, no toilet paper in any public washrooms on-site, and food often cold. Having said that, we were aware that Cuba is a country of limited resources & we understand the reasons for this - but definitely not a 4 star resort. Love the staff tho, and the beach was amazing!"

"The food was horrible. It was low season, so they had shut down half the hotel. There wasn't nearly enough entertainment and it was dead at night. The bar smelt aweful, so we never went, and there wasn't any outdoor music in the evenings. We should have been informed that not all restaurants would be open, and entertainment would not be happening due to low season. It may be more fun in the higher seasons."

"The staff at this hotel were horrible. The first two days we got robbed from the room and the hotel were very uniterested. We had to fight with management to get a room change. Only one out of 3 buffets were open and in fact our hotel room was located in a closed part of the resort space. The bar staff would ignore you and let us stand one day for 5 minutes before telling us they were closed. I would NEVER stay at this hotel ever again."
