"We spent a great week of Jan 3-10, 2012 for family vacation in Tesoro Manzanillo. It was our first time in Mexico. The hotel isn't new; however, it is clean and nice. The staff is polite and know their jobs. The food was good, but I would wish to have more fresh fruits and veggies - probably, depends on season. Many activities - you don't have any opportunity for being bored. The evening shows were wonderful. Thanks for a good time!"

"This is a nice hotel I have been here three times now. The buffet is OK but dosn't change a whole lot I was here for two weeks and ate off resort allot. Not because of the food at the hotel but more because the area has so many awesome places to eat and they are cheap. The package advertises two al acarte restaurants but in fact there is only one there used to be two every night 1 Italian and 1 Mexican but now they changed that, there is only 1 per night which alternates between the two evey second night which makes reservations very hard to get into them.
The rooms are nice and clean a small tip makes all the difference in the world and the appreciation is shown in the small things. The staff at the hotel were absolutely awesome."

"First of all the hotel itself is lovely and clean, rooms spacious enough with fridge and digital safe included. Staff was great, especially the recreation staff and waiters mostly good. That being said, the beach was full of jellyfish , a few small mantras, and sea snakes which made swimming in it not desirable. There was only one adult pool, full of kids and adults, impossible to get a chair and smelling like pee around the edges and slimy at the end of the day, even though they squeegeed it periodically. There were 2 hour gaps in the food service at night, which was OK, but their Mexican restaurant was awful. None of us hardly touched their food which was not very good. Didn't bother booking the Italian night, as you have to line up at 9 am if you want to get a seat, and we figured not worth it, as it is the same one restaurant. Buffet was fine, you could always find something, but breakfast every 2 days they had an omelet bar that you had to line up for and the line took about 30 minutes to get through. Again, not worth it and they wouldn't let us order one from the kitchen. If you go fishing, check with the vendors down the beach first, and they might buy the catch if it is good. We gave them 100 lbs of yellow tail tuna for nothing after our trip cause we didn't check with them first and they make like it's just junk leaving it on the beach till we're out of site. Only after the fact did we find out the restaurant on the beach might have bought it for free credit in their restaurant as they are separate from the Tesarro. Very hard to walk around unless you're fit as the beach is on a slant and the front of the hotel is all up hill. Bus comes often, but you need 2 buses to get downtown."

"This hotel is fine. There was great entertainment in the evening, the food wasn't terrible. I'm a picky eater but I didn't mind the food at all. Our room did not have any problems and it was clean. The water smelled a little funny out of the shower but it was fine. I'm only 25 years old and I went with my girlfriend. It was a nice slow getaway, I wouldn't go to this hotel if your on spring break or looking to party because it was mainly older people, however the activities were awesome. We went hiking in the jungle, and the fish we saw snorkeling near the ship wreck was amazing!! You can go for a LONG walk on the beach un-bothered. So if you're older looking to relax or just have a nice quite escape this place is great. If you're looking for spring break go to Cancun."

"My girlfriends and I went on a 'girls get-away' this January of 2009. We booked a last minute all-inclusive vacation at the Tesoro Resort. Our shuttle ride to the resort was incredibly informative and the guides were all too happy to help us out. Once we got to the resort we were amazed with the incredible sunsets that took place every night.
Tesoro itself is rated a 4 star resort, however I would put it more at a 3. We got to chatting with many of the guests and they felt the same. Although the resort got many bad reviews, it wasn't entirely awful. The buffet food is made for tourists. It's not your typical Mexican food that you would taste if you went into the town... its Americanized for our 'sensitive stomachs'. It wasn't awful, just bland. The A la' carte food was slightly better, especially in the resorts Mexican restaurant, Adoble. Definitely try the Spanish Coffee. The staff was incredibly nice, but perhaps a bit pushy when trying to get people to join in on things like water aerobics, or beach volleyball. Sometimes you just want to relax when on vacation. My girlfriend got charged for getting mascara on a towel and the staff was almost rude to her when she went to talk about it. Other than that we ran into no problems at the resort. It has a very Spanish feel to it and you have many opportunities to relax. On the downside, it is situated in its own private cove with its own private beach, making it feel very remote. It would have nice to have been able to walk down a long stretch of beach during those sunsets, as it was we had a very limited 'patch' of beach at our disposal.
All in all, it was a fun vacation but I, myself would not go to Tesoro again. Manzanillo itself is an incredible place to go, but I would recommend staying at a different hotel if you want a little more freedom. I would recommend this hotel for seniors who want a quite get-away, and families. Couples or young people who want to have a romantic, or just a good time, should go elsewhere, Tesoro is slightly too serene and remote for that kind of crowd."

"We stayed at the Tesoro in Jan and were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is an older facility, but for the age, in good shape. The rooms were fine, with a excellent ocean view. The food was excellent, I have had larger selection at other resorts, but everything I put on my plate was tasted and found well seasoned and prepared(nobody got sick either). The bay lacked waves large enough for boogie boarding, but had excellent snorkelling along the east side of the bay(don't pay for a tour, this is as good as it gets) and the calmer bay was great for kids to play in. The ala cartes were good, don't pay the extra for the shrimp, go with the lobster. If you want shrimp go west to Santiago bay, many little seafood places there. Not a single resort though, many families and seniors.....still, I would go back again.."
