"The Tryp Cayo Coco has been split in half. There is now the Blau Cayo Coco and the Tryp.
The Tryp is no more than a 3 star.
Between 4pm and 7pm everything is closed for food.
Supper Buffet is great, grills on the beach as well.
STAY AWAY from the A la Carte
If you want to go out of the resort, Cayo Coco is in the middle of nowhere...nothing to do. Excursions are extremely expensive and will run you about $60+ a pop."

"We were there from Dec 28, 2008 to Jan 4, 2009. Will never return back! This vacation was way overpriced. The hotel was horrible, rooms were dirty and crying for repair. Food was extremely limited in variety and nothing exceptional. Staff was not friendly - this was also noticed by other people visiting from other hotels in the area. The asking for tips from all staff in the hotel made us really irritated at the end as we spent a lot of money tipping for everything that was supposed to be included.
It was windy all the time. Sometimes it was sort of cold to stay on the beach and go out overnight if we weren't wearing jackets. Obviously the whole Cuba is like this as people traveling around said. This was our first and last trip to Cuba. We have been to Dominican and it was much much better."

"This is my second time to Cuba, the first was Varadero and have no complaints, but this trip I do. If you want a very quite trip with not much to do go to Cayo Coco. It's an island with no nearby town so you cannot leave the resort. My main complaint was the rooms. There were cracks and stains all over the floors and walls. The rooms need to be totally gutted and renovated. There's a really bad smell near the 24hr snack bar because of the swamp that is located right in the middle of the resort. The entertainment was great and the staff, except for the front reception ladies, very rude people! Buffet food was okay and a la carte dinners were great. I would not at all recommend this resort, lots of renovation to be done which I think they were doing because all week we heard construction. Oh and you get hassled constantly from the gardeners and workers, they sell things on the side which I never experienced while in Varadero. I'm not the type to complain but I felt I had to. Before we went we read all these reviews and thought well maybe we will just take a chance...well we were wrong because everything you read here is true."

"Just returned home from the Tryp with my Boyfriend. We had an amazing time. I really dont know how anyone could complain about this place, the only thing that wasnt up to par was the food but you are in Cuba. The rooms were dated but clean, the entertainment was good the drinks were great, the disco was actually really fun! Good mix in the hotels of couples, singles families....everyone we met that week loved it! My only regret staying at the Tryp was that we had to go back home after just 7 days! Totally worth the money. Beautiful beach and snorkelling was good too. Hotel employees were all wonderful and warm people especially Alcides at the lobby bar, Jenni the lifegaurd and Leo, on the animacion team. "

"Just got back from this dump a week ago. We paid the extra VIP and what a joke that was. Noisy and they seem to have 2 loud things going at once so if your in the lobby bar you also hear the hammers and saws going. Every night it was like musical chairs trying to find somewhere to sit for a drink which you waited about an hour for. We have been to Cuba 6 times and I think this will be our last. I know the cubans are poor but I dont mind tipping and I always bring tons of stuff but I'd at least like one hot meal, peace, and a beach chair to sit in and relax and also a mohito the cuban drink which they do not serve. Everyone we talked to at the airport couldn't wait to get home after being there and I was one of them. The room was moldy and I had several bugs in the bathroom. The only good thing was the view from our 3rd floor looking at the ocean. I'm so glad we did not book 2 weeks there because my husband got very sick for 3 days and he is still not well. Also this place is filled with Quebecers, so you hear nothing but french of spanish. I will not return here or Cuba in the future. Thanks for ruining my one week off. "

"The beach is very nice with white sand. Good for long walks. The grounds were very nice seeing as it is an older hotel. Because of the age of the hotel the rooms were subpar. They had cracks in the walls and permanent wet spots on the floor. The beds were ancient and kind of gross. The drinks and food were quite bad. One of our group got food poisoning and the bar will not serve you drinks that they even include on the menu. Not a four star at all."
