"I had not been to Cuba since 1995 and one have to say the Tryp Peninsula Varadero surpassed all my expectations. The rooms were clean and very quiet. Food was good. Service was great. Staff were friendly. We did not take advantage of everything that was available to us at the hotel. First hotel that one of the bars and a snack bar were open 24 hours a day. Slightly disappointed with the food at the a la carte restaurants especially the Cuban one. Although enjoyed the live music in a la carte restaurants. A lot of the hotels in that area were like a big apartment building however trip is a bunch of two and three story buildings with six to eight rooms in each. Each day there are different vendors on the property but no hard sales pitches or pressure to buy...you browse at your leisure. Always chairs available at the beach and pool. Whatever your pleasure you will find it at this resort. We were a party of four and we had a fabulous time. Would highly recommend this hotel. We stayed at the Tryp Peninsula between January 22 and 29, 2012."

"Excellent beach and water sports, large rooms, good food, and hotel service. Entertainment was short but generally good ( the dancing was exceptional!). Don't expect Internet to be fast, and the phone calls to be cheap, though. Take things the Cubans need as gifts for the staff like toothpaste, paper and pens, and TOILET PAPER for yourself outside the resort. Four of us hired a '57 Pontiac for the day to see Havana - 150.00 pesos/dollars - outside the front gate of the hotel - great value!"

"This was a good trip and a good vacation . the hotel was great and the staff amazing,The food was good and plenty to chose from, the resort is very clean and covered with beautiful large palm trees. Nice pool and bar ,I would recommend this resort and it is so much better to fly out of Hamilton if your able with Canjet. "

"We as a family of four(two kids 9 and 6yo) had good time at the resort. The hotel is still in decent shape but soon it will require a major TLC if they want to maintain the rating. We would rate it as good 4 star hotel. Beach is beautiful, big pool is clean and big enough to accommodate everyone and any activity. They are enough snack/drink bars around the resort, The best part is the kids club. Also, entertainment deserves high marks and we were pleasantly surprised with variety and quality of daily events around the resort. Lovely grounds too.
There are some negatives but they are all minor and should not affect anyone decision about this hotel. Restaurant within the main building is not worth going, food is the same every single day with a few changes, some drinks are not drinkable because of the quality of basic drinks, milk is made from powder and water(water from tap) and our kids could not drink it at all, some staff were rude( majority exceptionally polite and caring), long check in.
Overall, we would recommend it for families with kids up to 9 years old."

"Second time at Varadero, and have to say I was very impressed with Tryp. The rooms were very roomy and clean, and the hotel itself is top-notch. The food is very good-lots of variety at the buffet and at the a la cartes. The service was very good, would definitely recommend!"

"Hotel very family friendly, food is not bad for Cuba, the grounds are very well kept. We took some baseball gloves and gave to the gardener and the house keeper. They where very greatful. You will not be sorry if you book this hotel. But remember that you are in Cuba and things are very different is very slow pace ( do not go to Mall American, nothing there and Canadain dollar is only 60 cents. ) So when you go to Cuba your going for the Sun and Drinks. "

"Loved this hotel, itÂ’s a wonderful place for a family vacations. Food was perfect. Lots of activities for kids. Show programs for adults every evening. Our room was very good equipped, always clean. All you have to do is tip the personal for their assistance."
