"Good small size resort with friendly staff and great swimming pools. The Cystral Buffet is very good, but we didn't like the a la cart restaurants. Great location on the Varadero Beach with good selection of water crafts. Good selection of foods and drinks."

"We enjoyed the Tuxpan Hotel. Its staff is excellent, the hotel is clean. The food is average, and after a few days you will crave more than the buffet which tends to be the same thing day after day! The pool and beach is superb! It is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen! My biggest disappointment of the trip was our lack of support from our tour representative Hola Sun. We had no support and never met our rep. The rep did not show up for the meeting they arranged when we deplaned, we also tried on two other occasions to meet with them at the predetermined times they were suppose to be at the hotel and they never showed. I had to call on the last day just to see how and when we had to leave to the airport. I never got a hold of the rep and ended up getting a hotel staff to call the head office to find out. I have tried to contact Hola Sun since I have returned to Canada but have had no luck. I will never book a Hola Sun Vacation again but would defiantly return to the Tuxpan and Varadero area!!"

"Best of it, its People. Clean, comfortable, hard beds which were excellent for our backs (however, if you want soft beds, they gladly bring you either to other room or put a soft pillow top). Food was clean, well seasoned (sometimes a little bit salty but edible), no much changes in the menu and not much variety of seafood, yet excellent. From the people at the front line in the door, reception, buffet, snack bars, international restaurants, gardeners, beach security team, first aid and life guards, chamber maids, musicians, dancers to the just adopted little dog they care of since few days ago which dances its tale when it sees you; we want to say "Thank You" for such a quality time you gave to us, for the fresh coco Antonio and Carlos took from the coco palm tree, for the smile and kisses you gave to my wife when we arrive to the buffet (the beautiful girls Amisadai, Rossi, Janecy, Joandra during the day and to the energetic guys in the evening). Respectful people, tolerant, helpful. Humble to the point of accepting without fighting back the fact that a customer threw a ceramic plate in the face of Emilio, an employee at the Colibri Bar whom because serving a customer with all his effort in the middle of a strong wind was abused by this customer who acted violently for not having free four sandwiches in less than one minute. Thank God the plate pieces did not enter his eyes. Emilio is an example of all those heroes and heroines who work in the resorts of Varadero and who have to accept this kind of treatment from few tourists who still think slavery and discrimination are alive and in use.
The point is, Tuxpan is a recommendable place, beach front, clean and safe. Entertainment for all family because it is family oriented hotel, many children (that is why, no many smokers come here, which in our case is good). Employees speak not only English but French, German, Italian to name few.
Swimming pools are cleaned every day at 7 p.m. Music is contagious and is often live. There were groups like "Sexteto Marena", an authentic Cuban group which plays the oldies and most famous Cuban songs. The singer and the guys are friendly and can play for you a song from your favourites.
We also liked the environment at the buffet where often you will hear the chefs running after the chickens (literally). Bring your children and your parents, the air is "cleaner" than in other hotels were smoking is allowed in all the facilities. The entrance was gorgeously decorated with Lilies and tropical flowers which give a natural welcoming and exquisite perfume to the lobby.

"We have just gotten back from another great vacation at the Tuxpan Resort.
This has been our 4th year in Cuba and at the Tuxpan. We now feel like we are going home to see family instead of a vacation. Our crew started with 2 couples from the Maritimes and we have now ended up with a group of 20 from Nfld to Ont and we meet there at the same time every year. I would recommend this place to anyone who wanted to feel like they belong to a large family. Some people say that the rooms aren't very clean, well I have never even seen anything wrong with our room and we don't spend anytime in our room anyway. We are looking forward to next year already."

"We spend a week in this hotel-jail. The food was terrible and tasteless. The swim up bar was closed, and the water in the swimming pool so dirty. The beach not to bad and swimming in the ocean great. We had showers only at late night or 5-6 am. this time we could get some of warm water. The service did not exist !!! We went out on few occasions to eat and pay extra for the food in local restaurants. People, please do not go there !!!"

"Terrible food (people in jail here eat better then that) Terrible service, Terrible Entertainment... I think they could fix the stage had big holes and floor was lifting everywhere. If 80% of the tourist there are from country;s who do not drink expresso coffee. They should learn to make coffee 80% of us could drink..what a waste of coffee. Complainst everywhere at the resort...No hot water for a whole week and resort did nothing about it just said ok we know! Tipped 300 bucks in a week and still got ignored and so did everyone else some tipped much more. Hot water under food servers were cold so food was also cold."

"The worst food, worst service. The choices everyday for meat at supper was Liver/ fresh fish and black beans with a bit of hamberger. we had turkey once as an other choice and lamp chops. onces. The containers to keep food hot in were always cold. The vegatble of the day was squash or egg plant. and one day we had green beans. The fruit tasted terrible except for the canned peaches, great ice cream. Beach was great, rooms were clean, entertain ment was the worst ever, The statf were drinking on the Job and could care less about us. Have stayed at 2 other resorts they were Super club Breezes, Could go back to both in a second."
