"I love coming to the Mayan, I have been there twice in the last 3 years and I would recommend it to everyone if the beach and sun is in your destination must. It has so many sights and great things to do. The shopping is fantastic and the ruins and history make the trip so special. The beaches are beautiful and the snorkeling and reefs can't be beat."

"My wife and I spent 2 weeks at Bahia Pricipe Tulum, it was our 2nd time at this resort, the first time was with our kids at Akumal in 2007
Weather could have been a little better but oh well, its the Caribbean! We had 1 week of sun, 2 days of onoff rain and the rest of the time was cloudy but we still got burnt
The resort was nice, great selection of food, the rooms were clean, we felt safe 247, the beach was nice, really, what more can a person ask for?
This was our 3rd time to the Mayan Riviera, our first trip was to Cancun (Hotel Zone) it was nice but nothing like the Mayan Riviera"

"This was our second visit to the Barcelo chain in Mayan Riviera. The first time we stayed at the Barcelo Colonial very shortly after it opened and had an amazing time.
This booking was for the Barcelo Maya Beach but due to lack of space, they put us into the Barcelo Caribe (adjoining resort). It appeared this resort, at least our building (5000 block of rooms) had been upgraded. The beds were exceptional, the shower fixtures were excellent with good water pressure, new flat screen TV mounted on the wall. Bath towels were larger than the beach towels. No shortage of anything regarding the room. We were on the third level which was no problem as the building had an elevator - a real bonus!
Our booking was 10 days so we had 4 a la carte coupons which we used at our resort and then paid the small premium $15/per person to use the Japanese restaurant at the next door Barcelo Colonial. Well worth the premium for the chef's performance alone. We enjoyed all the a la carte experiences.
Only left the resort once to visit Playa de Carmen. Did some shopping and had lunch at Senor Frog's which was fun, fun, fun.
One disappointing episode was one of our beach towels went missing while swimming in the ocean. There is a $20 replacement fee for the towel. We manage to get around the issue, paid no money and received a replacement towel.
All in all had a great time!

"We stayed at the Grand Riviera Princess from March 24 to March 31. It was EXCELLENT. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are beautiful, the staff are very friendly. The food was very good and the beach is just was we needed. We had the Platinum package and it was well worth it. Private pool with butler service, open bar from 7am. Concierge was very nice to have at the Platinum lounge. We also took a full day and went to Cozumel. We took the ferry from Playa Del Carmen (lots of shopping) and rented a jeep for the day. The beaches in Cozumel are awesome and secluded. I would definitely go back to Grand Riviera Princess. Great package deal through Escapes."

"We had an excellent family vacation (wife & three kids, 19, 21, & 23 years). Our third year in a row "Christmas in the south" vacation at different resorts, they were all good with this being the best resort so far. First time with the kids, but second time for the wife & I at the Tequila. The check in was quick, they had everything prepared and organized before our loaded bus from the airport arrived. We were met at the door with our room keys and all information in one package, we were an end of day arrival, 12:00 am, so the paper work was in our package and asked to fill out at your leisure and return it the next day. Our room was spotless, the fridge well stocked with refreshments, and the air conditioning set at a comfortable climate when we arrived. Our housekeeping staff, Francisco, kept our room, as well as the building of sixteen rooms very clean for the entire stay.
The grounds were always immaculate, the staff out early pruning and fussing with the bushes and landscape.
The food was very good, with a great selection, the large salad bars, tacos, pastas. beef, chicken, fish, soups, cheeses, and the special Christmas eve buffet was wonderful. The entire staff at this resort go out of their way to make you comfortable, I noticed the resort manager several times through our stay greeting people, enquiring about their stay, I know this, as he had approached us earlier in the week. It's the simple things the staff do that go a long way, I celebrated my birthday while there, and returned to our room that day to find a small gift and a happy birthday note from the managing staff of the resort.
The beach is amazing, a little walk down a path, but well needed after eating & drinking, shuttle is available and always running back & forth, never used it, preferred the relaxing stroll. Beach loungers are abundant & clean, we were there during a busy week in Dec. and had five chairs each time, were there in middle of Mar. also and it was the same. Lots of shade if you prefer, with many palm trees, they were planting six new trees twenty five feet in height when we were there, not that they needed any more, but it adds to the atmosphere.
The pool is well kept and clean, plenty of drinks at the swim up bar with great service from the two bar tenders, had a never ending supply of refreshments, watch out for the squirt gun, they'll get you when you least expect it. Plenty of sun, and lots of grass shade umbrellas dot the pool area.
I would recommend this resort to anyone, remember why you are there, you are on vacation, be respectful to others and they will respect you, relax and enjoy the resort.
We booked this vacation on line at escapes.ca, with the assistance of Wendy Laverty. It was such a success we have already booked our next vacation through them again."

"When we booked our summer holidays at the all inclusive resort Catalonia Yucatan Beach in Puerto Aventuras, we didn't know too much about this place. Upon the arrival, however, we experienced unusual hospitality, respect, caring, as if we were the most honorable people in the world. We realized that we mattered and everybody there wanted us to have an unbelievably good time. The people at the reception desk were very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. They tried to answer our questions in the best possible way. As we moved down the steps from the lobby towards the two large swimming pools surrounded by the beauty of the tropical plants, the rising sun welcomed us mixed with the delight of the ocean breeze. We never felt too much heat; although, we visited this resort in summer. However, my family likes to swim and snorkel so we spent majority of our time in water enjoying the clear, turquoise, transparent, salty and warm layers of the ocean waves. With simple snorkeling equipment or goggles, we were able to explore the bottom of the ocean and the richness of marine life. Yes, we were all extremely happy that it was possible to snorkel in front of our hotel and discover schools of brightly coloured fish, corals and crabs. My family was fortunate enough to spot an octopus and a stingray that could camouflage easily hiding in the rocks. We discovered that the best places to snorkel were around corals as all the creatures alive used to hide in them. Upon entering the restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner the hostesses greeted us with a smile and kindness. The tables were elegantly set up and waiters were exceptionally nice always wanting to please anybody they serviced. The food was remarkably good with a great choice of dishes. Remember to visit Italian, Mexican, Japanese and Steak restaurants since they offer variety of tasty food presented in an artistic way."

"I stayed at a hotel called Akumal Beach Resort and it was great!!! The beach was nice and blue, white sands, the food was amazing and we really loved our resort. The staff were very friendly, and the weather was amazing!!! The only thing I kind of would of liked more was the nightlife. We did take a taxi to Cancun to shop and attend nightclubs and headed back so it wasn't so bad .It was a very stress-free trip which I definitely would go back again, anytime ,any day!!!"
