Barcelona Vacations

"We went to Barcelona in August and it was about 104 degrees with the humidity, crowded with tourists,and we encountered long lineups in the terrible heat for all the attractions.
Sightseeing would have been much nicer in the fall or spring with cooler temperatures and less crowds of tourists.
We did enjoy the food although had to get used to eating dinner after 8pm when the restaurants opened for dinner.
We liked the Gaudi architecture and the Magic Fountains.The Picasso Museum was a bit smaller than we expected.
Take lots of money as everything is very expensive."

"I was concerned about going to Barcelona at this time because of the heat but although it was 33C a couple of the days, we drank lots of water and there was usually a breeze so it didn't affect us too much. The city is amazing - beautiful architecture, wonderful art and culture museums and easy to get around on the city bus (didn't try the Metro because there are about 5 lines and it seemed very complicated to me). The Bus Turistic is a good deal - hop on, hop off and it goes to all the attractions. The only problem was when it stopped at a site it was very hot on the top open deck - as soon as everyone got off and on and we got going again the breeze was great. We took a taxi from the airport on arrival and it was 30 Euros with tip to the Ramblas but when we left we walked up to the airporter bus stop which was at the top of the Ramblas and it only cost 4 Euros each. We spent an afternoon on Plata Nova Icaria and the swimming was great. The Information booths (there are several on the Ramblas) are very helpful and mark your destination on a map and tell you how to get there."
